[2019 Six Nations] England Squad

^ Yep, locks are the one position England do have plenty of back up.

Sorry for Courtney though, He has stood out along with Curry in the first 3 games.

I think everyone thought it was going to be a hell of a lot worse than a calf strain ! Very good news imo.

Lawes injury if nothing else proved shields cant cover the second row

He'll probably still make the team in a couple of weeks, though. If we've got Itoje, Launchbury and Kruis available then I'm not too worried about second row, but we seem to be lacking good cover for the back row. If only one of our back row had a twin, eh?

Assuming Eddie will overlook BC for whatever reason, am I right in thinking that Clifford used to play second row before becoming a back row? I only really think of him as an 8, but maybe there's scope for a cover option there. Can't be worse than Hughes, and Shields isn't up to much.

He was in the camp before the Ireland game but got concussed, so he must be on Eddie's radar to some extent.

Watson, Underhill and Itoje in for medical tests too

Either Te'o, Shields and Hughes have incriminating photos, or they train like absolute gods.

Surprised Underhill is there; I thought he was ruled out of the 6N after surgery? Or is he just holding bags?

It emphasises that Underhill and Watson are just there for RFU docs to have a look at them,
Itoje is the only one who's in contention

You're over complicating it.

No RWC winning team has ever been coached by a foreigner. We're English, Jones is an Australian, you do the math. We're paying him a fortune and he's just using them to do a hatchet job on us from the inside. :).

You heard it here first, but the Kiwis are taking Bill home again.

Robshaw back in the 31-man squad. Itoje 1 of only 3 locks so unless Shields or Hughes are used as lock cover then he's guaranteed to be in the 23.

Backs
Joe Cokanasiga (Bath Rugby), Elliot Daly (Wasps), Owen Farrell (Saracens) captain, George Ford (Leicester Tigers), Jonathan Joseph (Bath Rugby), Jonny May (Leicester Tigers), Jack Nowell (Exeter Chiefs), Dan Robson (Wasps), Henry Slade (Exeter Chiefs), Ollie Thorley (Gloucester Rugby), Ben Te'o (Worcester Warriors), Manu Tuilagi (Leicester Tigers), Ben Youngs (Leicester Tigers).

Itoje being back is great, and Joseph too. If Robshaw takes Shields' place I'm more than happy. Not that I think Robshaw has earned the spot; I just don't want Shields to end up staying in the squad through inertia. A little shake up could help.

Maybe it's a bit soon to see JJ back on the pitch, but if you're going to give him a 6N game then Italy is the one to go for. Maybe even starting, with Slade as cover.

I guess Earl and Thorley are just holding bags? I don't see much room for a specialist 8 at the moment, and I don't see Thorley usurping May or Nowell. Maybe taking Big Joe's sub spot, but I think he's just there for the camp.

Cowan-Dickie, Genge, Launchbury, Williams, Cokanasiga and Robson all have to start IMO.

Agreed they all shpuld stary but for me Genge and Robson have to start.

LCD is interesting clear 3rd choice when all fit but alot like slade, he has had a few bad performances but has alot of potential i think he should start to rest George and giving him a chance against a weaker opponant. Slade had all the ptential and played so well for chiefs then through bad passes, forced offloads but given a few chances has started to step up to the point he COULD(not will) actually hold JJ out at 13. LCD im hoping will take the chance and step up to this level because having geroge LCD and hartley all fireing woulf be a big plus.

Thorley isn't good enough for international, the hype train behind him is crazy. Good form for his club but he's way too erratic and not well rounded.

Ashton has confirmed he's out for the rest of the 6N, hope Joe C gets some real game time

Agree but he's only 22 he has alot of potential. Deffinatly not there yet but in a couple of years who knows he might be challenging for a spot.
