[2016 Rugby Championship] South Africa v New Zealand (08/10/2016)

Massive problems with this ref right from the knock-on call in the early minutes. Definitely not up to the task.

first knock on call was correct... he knocked it forward but was unable to gather it, doesn't matter that the ball ultimately ended up going backwards
[TEXTAREA]DEFINITION: KNOCK-ON12
A knock-on occurs when a player loses possession of the ball and it goes forward, or when a player hits the ball forward with the hand or arm, or when the ball hits the hand or arm and goes forward, and the ball touches the ground or another player before the original player can catch it.
'Forward' means towards the opposing team's dead ball line.
If a player in tackling an opponent makes contact with the ball and the ball goes forward from the ball carrier's hands, that is a knock-on.
If a player rips the ball or deliberately knocks the ball from an opponent's hands and the ball goes forward from the ball carrier's hands, that is not a knock-on.[/TEXTAREA]

Boks very hard done by there. A no call for holding and a knock on in the buildup there.

Interesting to see if SA can chase the game. Disappointing last try with no attempt to run with a turnover and Lambie's kick getting deserved treatment.

Lovely try. Taking this sort of sublime stuff almost for granted now.

What are NZ trying here with Sopoaga & Barrett on the field at the same time? Moving Barrett to 12? (EDIT: Barrett at 15 - is that normal?)

The team now is how the Boks should be.

Lambie 10
Hougaard 9
Mapoe right wing
Willie 15

Much better balance.

Not great from Mapoe, but the ball was up at his head, so it wasn't an ideal offload. Hope it stays respectable in the last 10 mins but ABs might fancy going for the jugular to test their new formation.
