[2016 RBS Six Nations] Round 3: England vs. Ireland (27/02/2016)

Unless you are implying he did so intentionally, describing the contact Brown made with Murray's face as "striking" is disingenuous.

His intention was to kick the ball - perfectly legitimate.

Making a legal tackle that knocks someone out isn't any less legitimate than making a legal tackle that does no harm whatsoever.

To call it reckless is to say that WR should ban kicking the ball from a ruck totally.

I still feel both sin bins were a tad harsh. Care didn't slow the ball down in anyway.

Haskell was slightly late in slow motion but was high. Jamie Roberts tackles like that in every game and gets away with it, usually with plaudits.

Another dig at us , can't help It can you , every ref in the world MUST be bias and payed off by us even your English Wayne Barnes

I think we've covered everything at least twice...time for some sleep.

You really need to watch the game of rugby. I was comparing two players who are built similarly. Your xenophobia is boring.

Also Haskell is a slow motion player compared to Roberts

For some proper English bashing I suggest Channel 4 Braveheart is starting in 3 minutes.

OH btw u can be banned or cited for reckless play, even if u are doing something that would normally be legal play, having said that, Brown's behaviour had no effect on the outcome of the game.

If it's reckless then it's not legal.

I don't think his actions were reckless - unless you are going to describe any kicking of the ball in a ruck reckless.
Because any attempt to kick a ball that is in a ruck will possibly result in contact with a player.

Can we all agree that the event is way too clouded and unclear for any one person to make an unbiased judgement?

That two quite large groups of people can be arguing so vehemently for totally different viewpoints indicates to me that it's at least partly subject to opinion.

How about we forget about it and discuss some of the actually interesting, great rugby we saw from both sides today?

50% of us can feel vaguely smug when/if a citing does occur (or not) later.

Seriously. This is getting so, so boring.

I. m.o he was pretending to kick the ball, but intencionaly trying to hurt anyone around he actually kicked both players. you can't kick the ball out of a players hands. and by doing so hitting his hands and arms. the ball wasn't loose a guy was holding it. he should he suspended. not his first offense either.

In my opinion it was a bit much, but I'm no expert, and I have seen worse, obviously, if nothing comes of it then it was nothing, and if something does well to little to late. Personally I think it will be a Grand Slam for England this year, especially with that big tank of a guy u have who's name slips my mind.

You can kick the ball in a ruck - you can't hold onto the ball once a ruck has formed.

Agreed

Mike Brown is a numbskull he deserves to be yellow carded in every game, he's a liability.

I picked England to win this match earlier in the thread but only by 3 points.
I think Ireland are steadily getting worse and they desperately need their injured players back.
I think England are steadily improving and this was still a big result for them to give the home fans optimism about finding a way back from the RWC result.
Eddie Jones is working miracles and Wales had better be on their best game if they want to be the first Welsh team to win back to back matches at Twickenham since 1978.
Great see Captain Hartley put in a big shift.

You don't understand recklessness, that's ok.

Both yellows were deserved, though Care's was given to the wrong man! Care didn't do all that much to kill the ball no, but Haskell is on his knees killing the ball. Was a promising Irish attack, and was cynical play from Haskell, so definitely a yellow. Just odd the ref got mixed up and gave it to Care instead!

Haskell's tackle was late, high and used no arms. Really bone idle tackle to do to be honest. Again, yellow 100% justified.

Nothing like Roberts' recent tackling, who does thump players backwards, but generally ensures they're wrapped up in his arms too (like the tackle on Cowan the other day). Also generally seems to tackle people who actually have the ball :p Naturally I don't remember every tackle the man has ever done, but can't really remember him putting in any daft cheap shots like that! (Feel free to prove me wrong)
