[2016 RBS Six Nations] Round 2: Wales vs. Scotland (13/02/2016)

Another heartbreaking result, when the **** are we going to win!!?

It's time for Vern, Jonathan Humphreys and Mr O'Halleron to GO!!!

All this pish about progress isn't good enough for me and even more ridiculous is 0 wins in 9!!

Any other coach would have got sack with a record as poor as that!!

I'm sick of putting up with this pish every match!!

You can see Scotland are well coached though. Cotter can only do so much for players so mentally fragile. They've no leaders and a collective panic sets in when the game is in the melting pot.

To be replaced by who?

I doubt Scotland's win ratio has changed much in the last decade (although at least they score tries now!), Cotter has them vaguely resembling a rugby team at least.

The key today was the replacements. Wales were able to go up a gear thanks to their strength in depth whereas Scotland ran out of steam and had to keep Nel on the field for the whole eighty minutes

Cotter,or anybody else, can coach them all they want. On the field they can do nothing if one of the dip****s fumbles under pressure,or not as is the case many times, or doesn't play heads up rugby,or doesn't play the glaring obvious overlap or kicks when they should run it or anyone of a multitude of ****ed up stupid on field decisions made by players, who whether we like it or not are just not capable of converting proven ability,in some cases, into international wins. Blame the coach all you like,he can't hold their bloody hands all the time

If Gatland was in charge of Scotland I doubt they'd do any better. Our biggest problems are mindset related and lack of strength in depth

Almost as embarrassing as your post given it was Hidalgo-Clyne who made that last pass and Laidlaw was off the field

Where did I mention they were the same player?

edit: when will the Scottish understand the majority of your players aren't up to standard at the moment against the top nations?

Were so ****e,and I agree in certain respects, that we ran you close. Doesn't reflect that well on Wales.

To be fair to Laidlaw, any average person would act in a similar way if they have a camera thrown in their face when they are glum. I'm happy to see captains show a bit of emotion after a game rather than have them media trained into robots.

3 games in row? He comes across as a grumpy Scot, who never gives the opposition any credit. He's captain of Scotland at the end of the day and doesn't come across well in interviews.

I might watch the game again with a little less emotion this time around. Good to get the win, but Wales will not be happy with that performance.

I think the big thing for me today was the performance of the Warburton-Lydiate-Faletau partnership, which I felt proved is the most balanced and most effective for Wales. I think Tipuric is a great player to bring from the bench when the opposition is tired, and I fully expected Gatland to go back to the original back three, barring injuries.

It was fantastic to see North back to his old self today. A few good runs and a great try. Onwards to France. Should be a cracking game.

I feel so sorry for Scotland.

They are very close to a very good side, but every little mistake they make is getting punished cruelly unlike other sides and the ref gave all 50/50s to wales.

Great to watch but **** me, I'm English and I feel really, really bad :(

Scrummaging today was totally ruined by Clancy's pernickety, over-involved attitude to the scrum. Both sides produced a reasonable display for the spectators. As for sacking Cotter, he's been around for less than two seasons. His presence doesn't explain the last 9 matches v Wales. The wet blankets out there might not like hearing it, because it suits their miserable out look not to, but we're looking at a team which has narrowly lost to two teams most people expected to totally outclass them. Add to that the narrow defeat to the eventual RWC runner-sup, and a sense of proportion is required. We're a nation with the lowest participation level in the Six Nations, by a distance. I've been supporting Scottish Rugby since I was 12, nearly 47 years, and the 'Golden Years' so many nostalgia buffs love to talk about have never happened. We have had good years and some terrible ones all my life. Martyn Williams put it best when he referred to Wales' bleak times up to around ten years ago. Learn to give some credit for not only effort, but some genuine class. To give an example, Dan Biggar is constantly talked up as being devastating in the air when chasing a kick. Just think back to the number of balls Tommy Seymour fielded today. Have a think about the breaks Hogg made, and the number of metres made despite only being on the field for a short time. Have a think about Jonny Gray's contribution, or WP Nel's. put a bloody smile on your face. We're ****e but we know we're ****e.

He wasn't made captain because of his media skills. If you don't like him then hit mute or change the channel

I thought Laidlaw was fine.

Saying well done to the opposing team every game gets tiring.

He actually had a very good game today. Made some good bursts and looked sharper than last week. He is in the business of playing rugby after all not being a media darling.

Correct. Sick of the PR speak that most people come out with rather than an honest assessment.

Good example of that was Gatland today.......

Bit of a curate's egg, but there were some very good tries and exciting passages of play.

Hugely impressed with Seymour. Good to see North, one of my favourite players, getting involved more. And whatever you think of Roberts all round game he does make decisive interventions at this level.

Wouldn't you be grumpy if you were the captain of Scotland? :p

Six Nations forces players into media appearances even if they don't want any part of it, or else their union is fined. I think it's a dumb requirement. Let players who want to speak to the media, speak to the media. If players want to stay away, that should be okay too. Being a media darling shouldn't be a role of the captain IMO.

Not only that but he's slowly coming to the realisation that his club play better without him there :p

Far too much is made of interviews with players post game - adrenaline and emotions are sky high, of course players on the losing side aren't going to be all happy go lucky and chatty.
People still give loads of hate to Mike Brown for that interview, when in reality he didn't say anything bad - he was blatantly really upset with the loss, had a microphone stuck in his face, and said England weren't good enough....end of.
