[2016 RBS Six Nations] Round 2: France vs. Ireland (13/02/2016)

Schmidt couldn't help we tired in last 20 after last weeks efforts. French sub front row had huge impact and congrats to them

Worst game of the tournament so far, and hopefully will remain so. Changes needed, McCloskey has to play and I wouldn't mind seeing Gilroy given a shot. We're not going to win the thing so we should rebuild.

normally only the losing team will state "worse game of the tournament" no one in France is seeing it that way!!!!! winning ugly has just as much satifaction and is certainly better than losing, but i did enjoy several Guinness's during the game and it is only SPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a bore fest until the last 20 and Ireland made two HUGE mistakes...

- not kicking at the wings enough indeed only once when it was mighty effective!

- not scoring when they had the first 60 minutes of overwhelming superiority!!

This is a pretty poor French team yet they held the vaunted Irish team who again demonstrated their inability to score which is a definite problem!!

BUT well done France for holding out and recovering to win!!

Neutrals like throwing around that label too :p

So far I've seen three games this tournament (or parts thereof) and they've all been uglier than a Croydon virgin. I wouldn't differentiate at this stage, merely congratulate the winners.

Gaston - What's up with leaving Ben Arous and Slibani on the bench? Those guys really made the difference.

.. Not a single redeeming thing.[/QUOTE]

...except France won!

What a dreadfully dull game.
Ireland threw it away by not ticking the scoreboard over in the first half.
Oddly enough France are now on track for the grand slam and they look awful.

Last week it was exactly the opposite they started and were only average, this week they changed it around and the as last week the bench props were the better, funny old game what.

But France are trying to return to old values. Noves will get more time over next 2 weeks. They may improve but well every game will be a big game for them and I don't see them doing slam.

Fair play to France. Bar a couple of exceptions on the Irish team they wanted it more than we did. They killed us at the breakdown too.

For Ireland? Heresy perhaps but i thought we lacked conviction. Making tackles and working hard in defence is easy (ok not easy) but most showed no conviction carrying the ball. Tommy O' Donnell was ridiculously tentative. Payne and Stander were the only exceptions. Stander was heroic.

It'll be a long day against England in a couple of weeks. We're gonna struggle physically again.

Nichols is talking such a load of ******** on the BBC red button at the moment about French club rugby while Guscott is, correctly, criticizing the French forwards fitness!!

French crowd = best crowd. Can't remember when was the last time a crowd was that loud for a 6 nations game.

Congrats France. The change of props early in the second half turned the game.

What an utterly terrible advertisement for 6 Nations rugby. This game was a perfect illustration of why rugby in this part of the world is so far away from the Rugby Championship in terms of overall standard. One out runners smashing into the nearest player isn't entertainment nor is it successful any more.

Ireland have one try in two games now which is truly pathetic. A sea change in how they play is needed. With three tests against South Africa in the summer and tests against New Zealand x2 and Australia in November, there's not much scope for experimentation then. Ireland have a great opportunity to grasp it now with the 6 Nations ***le now out of reach. Give Stuart McCloskey his shot in midfield. Give Kieran Marmion or Luke McGrath game time off the bench. Let Jonny Sexton heal up and invest in Paddy Jackson at 10. Allow Tadhg Furlong more opportunities to develop. See what Ultan Dillane can do. Bring exciting attacking talents into the setup - Stuart Olding, Luke Marshall and Garry Ringrose. Look for and attack space.
