2016 Olympic Games, Rio

Shame we've gone for the coat of arms on our shirts (Stella McCartney design). Should totally have the Team GB Lion logo. I mean the Irish are with us in spirit right?

We're there in spirit much like a vengeful spirit in a **** low budget found footage movie dwells in your house until you get a priest in.

Yeah but who are you going to support instead? Search your feelings you know it to be true!

Men's 69kg WL is heating up - good contest brewing between the Turk and the Chinese lifter.

I thoroughly recommend watching the C/J in about 8 minutes.

Chinese lifters are ****ing savage. I love it.

Tomorrow's the big one, for me.... Lu Xiaojun in the 77kg.

Watching the weightlifting always brings 2 things home to me that are relevant to rugby.

Nice bulging pecs and biceps are great, but the legs are the real powerhouse.

Technique, technique, technique. Thinking of scrummaging where sheer size seems to have taken over, but someone who really knows their way around can damage much bigger men.

Don't think I'd ever seen the squat jerk in Olympic competition before last night. That looks like bl**dy hard work.

Yes and no.

Weightlifting is not the same as playing rugby... there's a reason that a lot of Judoka and wrestlers have massive chests and arms.

Lots of Oly lifters are absolutely jacked too.

NZ rugby fans not happy about the 7's team being called the All Blacks

LOL

So ****ing precious.

It's almost as annoying as when people refer to England as "the red rose".

How many more toys can be thrown out of the New Zealand rugby pram?

They really are taking a zero-tolerance approach to anything even remotely approaching a "high" tackle.

I don't mind so much if it's just for sevens, but if they try and push this level of pedantry onto the full game It's going to be intolerable.

I dont think they will, think the emphasis on this is keep the games flowing, would explain some marginal high shots, lightning quick ruck penalties and why youre carded for throwing the ball away when you drop it and it bounces the other way.
