[2015 TRC] South Africa v New Zealand in Johannesburg (25/07/2015)

Lol!

Maybe at the start of the game... But the more the ball ball becomes slippery, I think the more the teams will try and hoof it high, hoping the player to recieve the ball will make a mess of things...

Or, keep it tight with fetchers.

It'd be a pity if it was raining out and cold but it rarely pours for hours on end on the highveld so even in winter there should be a good chance we catch clearish skies.

That said though it'd probably be better for us to play against NZ in weather we'll be more likely to face at the RWC than a typical sunny highveld day as they are more used to such weather than our boys.

Careful what you say Stormer... Remember last year's downpour when the Boks played against Argentina at Loftus?? That rain lasted for nearly a week!!

I like the AB's side, obviously debut for a couple of players importantly a 10 on debut is a big occasion and a risk at the same time. IF this wasn't WC year that would not normally happen in a game like this.

the selection of Piutau & Dagg 3 games in a row I think very much indicates that they are basically locked in for WC selection.

They are also giving Savea a lot of time to recover. Probably a good idea to have him focus on conditioning for a few weeks & freshen up.

Looking forward to seeing broadhurst finally get a run. I picked him to be an all black like 4-5 years ago and for a while it seemed he wasn't going to get there but IMO he is well and truly one of our top 3 locks right now. Not just this year his form last year was really good as well.

I think Retalick & broadhurst are going to be a superb combination. the combined physicality/workload and x-factor is awesome if it comes off.

Good side, no pressure Sopoaga but winning or losing is going to really rely on how he goes. We do have barrett in the wings I guess. IT will be interesting to see how deep or flat he plays, it will help having Aaron Smith there.

As always the key to beating The springboks is pretty simple overall, weather the early storm, stay close through the middle stages and win the game in the last 20min when they slow down a bit. Dont give them easy intercept trys... And give the ball to Ben Smith.

I wonder if Savea hadn't got an asthma attack what the back three would have been. Surely our best line up is Savea and Piutau on the wings with Smith at the back? Piutau has always been really good for us, unlike our old mate Dagg.

I'd go savea smith and Naholo but piutau still a good shout.. Still waiting to see NMS hopefully next week or the last week
This is actually such a big game for Sopoaga, atm its 50/50 Carter and Barrett for the shirt, but honestly neither have it nailed down, if Lima has a cracking game we could genuinely see a shift of the 10 shirt, IMO!

I would say more 80/20 in favour of Carter imo, he is proven st 10 and Barrett has struggled in the games he started at 10.

Yeah Carter is clearly back as the incumbent. I think Piutau is hugely underrated. He has a very nice boot and is such a strong, busy player on the wing. Given he plays fullback too I'd for sure pick him in my World Cup squad before Dagg.

and I never thought I'd be saying this but we could do a lot worse than George Moala as general cover. We probably won't need him given all the other options out wide and in the mid field but the ability to play mid field and wing effectively is pretty good.

With Nonu, Read, McCaw, Retallick, Messam and the Smith brothers (Conrad, Aaron and Ben) ABs by 7

Sky sports have the worst South African commentator of all time.

Bloody ground camera guy already doing the stupid replaying thing to stir the crowd up

Manic pace already in this one, SA look right up for it and full of running too. Lovely try, set up nicely by a Dagg clanger.

Well if that isnt the end of the allblacks dismissing penaltys for the quick tap then I dont know what will. They lost the kicking game there aswell. and you dont see that often.

Very well taken try by SA!

Awful pass from Dagg and didn't find touch. Get Ben at 15 ffs.

Great try and being played at some speed!

Great save by LeRoux after the try too!!

WTF?? A flick pass by BdP :D

Bismarck "Sonny Bill" du Plessis
