I remember the days the Cheetahs could name 6Brussow, 7Smith, 8Vermeulen!! They had a backline full of holes in those days though. Sharks revenge? I can't call this game but I'm backing the Cheetahs as the Sharks look clueless on attack ATM bar Lambie and Reinach taking it on themselves.

SARU and Local Unions have come to a compromise. Contracted Boks won't play more than 5 games in a row.

The contracted SHARKS players are Marcell Coetzee (loose forward), Patrick Lambie (flyhalf/fullback), JP Pietersen
Willem Alberts (loose forward), Bismarck du Plessis (hooker), Jannie du Plessis (prop) and Tendai Mtawarira (prop).

Of these contracted players, Marcell Coetzee and Pat Lambie have played and started in all 4 games so far.
If they play against the Free State they have to be rested against the Chiefs in Durban the following week.

Will they take that chance and not have their no.1 pivot (Lambie) and flanker (Coetzee) play against the Chiefs?

More mindless, counter-productive rigidity from the administrators. I am glad I don't have to deal with these clowns.

I think they might just rest those 2 against the Chiefs.

Now than Frans Steyn is back, they have him as a back-up to Lambie, and with Alberts and Deysel and Kankowski back to full fitness, they can afford to rest Marcel.

They will definitely have to make a few tweaks here and there, but they do have the players to make that switch.

Resting Lambie and Coetzee in crunch games would be mental since those two (with PSdT and Reinach.. maybe SPM) are the only players in any sort of form for the Sahrks ATM.

Could very well be two more losses on top of the three in the bag. Rather rest them in the game vs the Force as they'll certainly be less of a threat than the Chiefs and it'd give Steyn, Alberts and JPP a week extra to get back to their best. Does delaying their rest by 1 week really make a difference?

The problem is that Gary Gold has to either rest them this coming weekend or next weekend. He can't let them play 6 games in a row. The maximum amount is 5 games in a row.

Naka Drotske is resting Mohoje for this game due to this rule and he said that he would rest Willie the next game.

I know that. I just think its BS. 5 games.. 6 games.. it comes down to the same as far as I'm concerned and puting a hard and fast number on it and not taking into account specific situations is typical of brain-dead SARU blanket policies.

Oh come on man!

Give SARU some credit here. The Unions could've told them to go screw themselves. Instead they got to a compromise where the unions/franchises agreed that to the deal. This was a step in the right direction, and now with the news that SARU and SARPA are in talks about central contracts, it's proof that things are changing and for the better IMHO.

Central contracts I'm all for (assuming it is done right- big assumption) and while I'm all for our front line players getting rested for the RWC I think a blanket 5 game hard and fast rule doens't make sense in all cases. The same kind of thing happened last year with contracted Springboks not being allowed to play in the CC so as to rest whereas some of them couldv'e doen with a hit out at CC level coming back from injury rather than being tossed in at the deep end. Some weren't allowed to play but weren't even going to play test rugby while others were going to lay all games for the Bokke but weren't contracted so were fair game. My problem isn't with the intentions of these forced rest periods its with their nonsensical implementation; trying to paint a classical reproduction with clumsy broad strokes.

Mohoje is back cause the one flank picked up an injury, he'll be rested next week
Sharks need their top players for this game to get that win and mental boost
Any case think it is easier to win against the Cheetahs rather than the Chiefs they might think

I think the Sharks will win this game
