I have only watched short videos of the training sessions and I don't know how he is usually, but is it me or does he seem really quiet?

yes he clearly has concussion because hes wearing a hat! dont quit the day job munstermuffin . Look if he had concussion there is no way the medical team would let him play for health and legal reasons. Do you think smitdh would let him play? not a chance! pull your head out of your arse!

To be honest, I don't think Ireland have had such strength in depth in a long time - it's a great bench (especially in the pack which will be crucial in the final 20).

Argentina's expansive game plan might well a specialist 7 such as Henry. Hopefully there are some isolated players but we need to two-man tackle because I have noticed a great offloading game by the Pumas.

My day job is physio within rugby so I won't quit. And I guess you aren't full of knowledge as regards concussion or IRFU history.
Do I think Schmidt would play him? Yes he's done it before with Leinster players. As have other players with Ireland and IRFU as they admitted in reports in the past.
Heat can help with calming migraine (ice can too) and it has been known for people in past with concussion to sleep with a hat to ease headaches. So Pat maybe try do a bit of research and don't quit day job either you surely better than in medical field or your head may be up your Arse ;)

May be a case of mixing it and picking the right moment when to dive in as a 7 and I'd expect the choke tackle will feature a lot here.

The missing players are a blow but don't you think the new guys in might bring a renewed freshness in terms of intensity - we will have 2/3 of the back row raring to go at Argentina, which might help perk up the rest after a huge shift last week.

This could backfire tremendously if Sexton goes off early and Madigan later on too.

Certainly agree the freshness may help. It could easily go either way can't see there been more than few points regardless.

munstermuffin, as you are a big physio for a big rugby team how many concussions have you diagnosed and treated as a physio? and how many of those concussions did you deem to be present due to the fact the player was wearing a wooly hat?

Never claimed to be a BIG physio.
A physio assists in return to play protocols and ticking the boxes on the way back a doctor diagnoses the concussion and advises.
Regards 2nd bit (and I thought I was bad at grammar) I never seen 1 concussion due to a wool hat. But I'm presuming you meant how many have I seen been treated with the assistance of a wool hat or cyro hat and the answer is possibly a lot over the years spread across various sports.

Now Pat if your so smart and obviously know a lot and are 100% right of course can I ask
How many you've treated?
And how my theories are so wrong? I'm just curious to learn off someone as smart as you. And I'd certainly love to hear your facts not "what you think".

FWIW I want Sexton to be fit just merely stating it is a risk. Do I understand why they are doing it? Yes. Do I want Sexton to play? Yes. People seem to forget IF IRFU said he'd any concussion (even a mild 1 that may be recovered in days) he still would have to sit out 6 months or so.

Nothing. im just trying to state the fact that we shouldnt state a player has concussion when we have not got the qualifications to do so. Ive suffered from concussion in the past and I most certainly didnt call my physio to ask him to massage my brain to make me feel better!

Wow. This was one of the best answers I've ever read in any Forum.

I'm guessing you won't answer my questions so?
And I'm guessing you've no idea how it works here. And did I say a physio diagnosed it or any of that smart crap you say. No. But I've worked beside the doctors. And between them and I'd say even me are more qualified than you. But you've had concussion so that makes you an expert I suppose. I'm not only 1 that said it was a possible concussion but having seen a lot more concussions than you I know symptoms.
But guess you won't answer but well answer too:
Where did I say a physio diagnoses concussion or treats it alone?
And well maybe you should learn a bit before trying to be all smart.

Interesting week for Ruddock, just back from injury with 1 pro12 game and now he's about to play in the biggest game of his life.

Certainly has the skill. And was in good form last few games but obviously the tempo goes up and questions will be is his fitness up to scratch yet after lay off. He is a serious option off bench. This game will suit him

Take a deep breath and relax muff! I didn't mean to insult the whole profession of physio's but it seems like I can't have an opinion here. You dont know my backround but you decided to tell me your life story in order to tell me you have been involved in back to play protocols when a doctors instructs the player he is safe. I couldn't really make sense of your last post as I feel your knickers are in a twist. I apologise if i offended you!

To answer your question I'm not a doctor or a physio so you can shake your fist with victory as you are 1 up there ;)

I have played rugby and GAA all my life and I have experience of going through concussion and I have also seen the signs and symptoms of my fellow teammates.

From my view on the incident last week sexton shifted a big hit into the chest and vomited on the pitch. He made a big hit himself before that and went down. Neither collisions were anywhere near the head so my view of it was two big hits into the mid riff. Unless he hit his head on the way down from the tackle I cant see how he could have obtained concussion. He walked off the pitch un-aided and looked fine but a bit shaken.

He's a fantastic player with all the potential in the world and like POM has the dog in him. Hopefully injuries and Murphy's performance permitting, his fitness issues won't have to come into it. He would have had Murphys place if he was fit to begin with, can't wait.

Pat again you haven't a clue. You hammered me for mentioning hat and now off you go when I state my case. And again I'd even question have you ever even had concussion as you off 0 facts and seem to have 0 knowledge. And have no knowledge of IRFU and their history with whole area.
You don't need a direct hit to the head for concussion. Especially if you've the history like Sexton but again you'll say something smart back. You don't need to be aided walking with concussion.
So again you demonstrate you haven't a clue.
So again I'll ask and I'll break it down for you easy.
How is it stupid with regards comments of hat? Maybe throw in facts supporting answer too as you obviously have them all. So let's see are you more than a smart Arse.
I never offered life story either. Many here know what I've worked at for years and well I've shown over my years here I can debate on things I actually know and don't enter debates where I know nothing. Guess your different as your clearly showing.
