2014 Six Nations: Scotland vs England (Round 2)

Please, ohh please Scotland play a little better.

They have not once played to their potential. Hope the field is better than it sounds. That being said it is rugby and can be played in almost any condition.

Think Max Evans and Ross Ford.. Rob** should be dropped. Ross has not played well in years and we know what Max can do. It is good, but not great. Try some new blood. Also they should definitely brink back Scott, not that Duncan played bad, liked him a lot and might consider him as a cover on the bench.

I think the first half will be tight and England will wrestle control in the second half I'm gonna go for England by 6-10 points . Ideally it will be by 60 points cos I dunno if my heart can take another game like France :(

I'm hoping for an unchanged team. For once after watching England I felt at the end of the game I was excited for the next match and to see how we back up a good performance. Only changes that are needed is to the bench where I would have Ford and Watson instead of Barritt and Goode.
I thought most players played well Saturday stand outs were Vunipola,Lawes and Care. However I think the criticism of Twelvetrees has been uncalled for. I'm not his biggest fan despite being a Gloucster fan but I thought he had a good solid game. His workrate was unbeleivable and kept Fofana quiet. Anyone feel he actually played pretty well?

I thought 12 trees played well. Did eve ethnic I wanted from my 12 in a new centre partnership. Not his best game but he is still developing. I would like to see eastmond tried at some point but we need to settle on at least one centre to make things work.

In news that surprises no one, England name an unchanged starting XV and bench for the Scotland game.

Was "eve ethnic" supposed to be everything?

Glawsfan:

Has there been much criticism of Twelvetrees' performance/ I haven't heard of it.

For my money as a huge fan of his, he went ok but things didn't quite happen for him. Whether it was slipping when he tried to step inside a defender in attack, or a hurried and unsympathetic pass to the man outside him, or an offload not going to hand (he wasn't alone in being guilty of that), and then the occasion when he kicked ahead instead of keeping the ball in hand.

Most of these things don't worry me overly, it's a case of composure and precision. The kicking ahead thing irks me a bit more because you need your 12 to have the vision to make the right decision and make the most of mis-matches/overlaps.

However I thought he carried very well, like just about everyone else. He didn't try to go through gaps necessarily but often straight through a defender and beat him, which is great to see. I also remember him distributing one phase of attacking player because Farrell was tied up, and he put Joe Marler into a nice hole which was worth a ten metre gain - good stuff .

As for Farrell; I thought he was really good going forward but his cross-field kicking still makes my blood boil. That play where he kicked across field and Nowell was penalised for tackling in the air? That was a great positional advantage, and we have to have faith in our ability to apply pressure by building the phases. I believe we would have got a 3 pointer had he kept the ball through the hands and forced France to err. I really hope the coaches will drill into Farrell the need to not waste good territory like that.

EDIT: Rumours are that Fusaro will start at openside for Scotland and Kelly Brown might drop out of the 23 altogether...? Anyone want to call Bull-Sh*t?

are you saying you'll literally DIE if England lose ? hey man, wtf would you have gone through if you were a French fan last year ?! England loses one match, in PARIS, difficult fixture anyways, and England has another away game and you're already talking about what your heart can take ?
Trust me, it gets a LOT worse as a supporter !!

I think he was referring to the game being as dramatic and nail biting as the France game, rather than the result.

BBC reporting it now. Good to have Fusaro, but moronic to drop Brown. We don't need three 8s in the 23!

Team according to Plant Rugby - http://www.planetrugby.com/story/0,25883,3551_9152882,00.html

15 Stuart Hogg, 14 Tommy Seymour, 13 Alex Dunbar, 12 Matt Scott, 11 Sean Lamont, 10 Duncan Weir, 9 Greig Laidlaw (c) 8 David Denton, 7 Chris Fusaro, 6 Ryan Wilson, 5 Jim Hamilton, 4 Tim Swinson, 3 Moray Low, 2 Ross Ford, 1 Ryan Grant.
Replacements: 16 Scott Lawson, 17 Alasdair Dickinson, 18 Geoff Cross, 19 Jonny Gray, 20 Johnnie Beattie, 21 Chris Cusiter, 22 Duncan Taylor, 23 Max Evans.

Glad Seymour is in over Evans, but really don't understand why MacArthur's been dropped for Lawson.

(I've somehow got stuck in bold, sorry!)

Scotland coaches logic:

"Well, Ross Ford has been playing pretty poorly to be honest.....so lets drop MacArthur! Inspired!"

Maybe I just haven't watched enough of him but what does Ryan Wilson really offer? for me jury's out in terms of what he brings. In my opinion Kelly Brown shouldn't be playing 7 for anyone... but don't drop him!

I know, but I just chose to pick what I wanted to pick out of that post...just getting a message across.

Ross ford is a lucky *******. He should be dropped, his throws stink, his srcrummaging is not much better and his work in the lose is not what it use to be. They needed to try this new kid out, or put Lawson in. But not keep Ross... I would rather have Rob Ford playing. At least that guy knows how to cheat and win ;)

As for Kelly Brown, I think it is very harsh. He should have just been moved to 6 as he is still one of our best flankers. I think this has more to do with SJ saying that Kelly would only wear the 7 shirt. He also is a great leader and I don't get why he could not sit on the bench. He can cover all 3 positions just fine.

Happy with him sticking with everyone else though and also not dropping Taylor off the 23.

isn't dropping Brown insane for Scotland ? Enlighten me here...

WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K! IS SCOTT JOHNSON WANTING ENGLAND TO WIN ? FORD AGAIN AFTER HIS AWFUL GAME AGAINST IRELAND, NO SITE OF RICHIE GRAY AND KELLY BROWN NOT EVEN PLAYING! WTF!!! ENGLAND IS A TEAM NOT TO UNDERESTIMATE THEY MAY HAVE NOT HAVE A GOOD GAME AGAINST FRANCE BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN TO UNDERESTIMATE WE KNOW WHAT ENGLAND ARE CAPABLE OFF SO WHY!!! JOHNSTON WHY!!!

sorry for the caps im just annoyed by the bad decision of the scotland team after seeing it im saying england to win by +15 could have been a win but not after that team i dont underestimate Fusaro like i do think he's a good player but we need our main captain as after his chat he deserves to lift the Calcutta cup

Must he a kick in the balls to have your younger brother, barely out if the age groups, picked over you.
