[2014 Mid-Year Tests] Scotland

Scotland should win the first 2 and the 4th should be a convincing loss. Having said that, Scotland have been very mediocre recently whilst Canada and the US are rising. If Scotland lose either of those games, it will be a pretty damning statement about the state of Scottish rugby.

Personally I hope Scotland lose to one of Canada or the US but win against SA, suprise results all round.

Argentina are sliding like Scotland and that game could go either way.

It will be interesting to see how Cotter's influence will change Scotland's game plan. I don't think we will see them playing so much in the Clermont style at first just because of time he has, and the quality of the Scotland team. If I was picking the best Scotland team I would go for,
1.Grant 2.Hall 3.Muarry 4.Hamilton 5.Gilchrist 6.Denton 7.Barclay/Rennie 8.Beattie 9.Cusiter 10.Laidlaw 11.Maitland 12.Scott 13.Dunbar 14.Visser 15.Hogg
16.MacArthur 17.Dickinson 18.Low 19.J Gray 20.Brown 21.Pyrgos 22.Heathcote 23.Lamont

you have seen the squad right ? if not then neither barclay or rennie are picked in the team. and matt scott isn't either due to injury

i would personally say that scotland needs to beat argentina. its a good ranking battle as argentina are playing ireland. to be absolutely honest i do fear about playing the usa, they seem to surprise me as they gave ireland a run for they're money last year. but saying that ireland did play with they're 2nd team as they're best players were on the lions tour and the usa are playing well as scotland ain't but we'll see and we have never beaten south africa in south africa and its probably going to stay like that.

Yes, I did say if I was picking the best Scotland team.

Well, this will be an interesting tour. Obviously cheering for Canada, and I think we have an outside chance of winning, if we can get everyone out (fingers crossed for Cudmore) and if some of the recent sevens success transfers over. I'm sure BMO Field will be packed, I can't wait! :D

I normally never (ever) cheer for the USA, but idk, I'd really like a Tier 2 to take a Tier 1 scalp, and if they do it, good for them. I'll be pretty neutral watching that game.

After those two games I can freely go back to supporting Scotland as my second team. I'm hoping vs Argentina will be a close, exciting match with the Scots coming out on top. And of course I'd LOVE to see them upset SA, but then again if they're capable of that then Canada/US won't have a chance. So I guess I just hope they don't get embarrassed. (cough**Wales**cough)

Got to agree with Peter on this one. Peter Wright questions Scotland's summer tour dates

yes i was reading this article the other day.. and it was interesting and indeed he is right to say 'why should we play a weaker squad against teams like south africa and argentina' but the team which is going to south africa is still pretty strong as we still have the likes off sean maitland, stuart hogg etc. yep its not the first option team but it is still effecting of providing some damage and may i remind us off the tour to south africa during the lions tour. all our best players for that game were out but we were still capable off scoring two tries and also a time in the game we were in the lead. but this time most off our best players are in and we have a much more experience coach so... not saying we'll win but there is a huge chance

so looking at the squads for both Usa and Canada i reacon our starting XV will look something like

1.) Gordon Reid 2.) Pat MacArthur 3.) Moray Low 4.) Richie Gray 5.) Jim Hamilton 6.) Johnnie Beattie 7.) Kelly Brown 8.) Blair Cowan 9.) Chris Cusiter 10.) Finn Russell 11.) Tim Visser 12.) Duncan Taylor 13.) Alex Dumbar 14.) Sean Maitland 15.) Stuart Hogg

and for argentina and south africa

1.) Gordon Reid 2.) Pat MacArthur 3.) Geoff Cross 4.) Tim Swinson 5.) Johnny Gray 6.) Rob Harley 7.) Chris Fusaro 8.) David Denton 9.) Henry Pyrgos 10.) Duncan Weir 11.) Dougie Fife 12.) Peter Horne 13.) Alex Dunbar 14.) Sean Maitland 15.) Stuart Hogg

Mark Bennett and Grayson Hart are added to the squad playing the usa and canada replacing cusiter and dumbar who are injured. cusiter with a head knock and dumbar with a hip injury.

Why wasn't Bennett in in the first place? He's a great player and I'd love to see him partnered with Matt Scott (When fit, natch).

i got no idea he is quality definitely a player for the future

Jackson and Heathcote swaps summer tour schedules so Jackson is now part of the team going to the USA and Canada and Heathcote will now be on the tour to Argentina and South Africa
