[2014 Mid-Year Tests] Crusaders vs England XV

England's "tackles made" are strange - they are consistently higher than the opta stats... they are definitely including something other than completed tackles.

I counted 17 tackles and 3 turnovers. I can see which turnover opta decided not to include, as the result was that a penalty was awarded against him (incorrectly).

In the first test in Argentina England said he made 29 tackles whereas opta said he made 20.


Opta is primary tackler i presume - so primary hit. England count assists.

Also as i said , England currently also count missed tackles as tackles if the outcome forces a positive (nto sure that would be included in a public stat though)
 
I don't see why assisted tackles shouldn't be included though. If you're interested in how much a player is getting around the field, it surely makes sense to include it.
