[2014 Mid-Year Test] Canada vs. Scotland 14/06/14

Good to see Sinclair back and pleased with Mack starting but Blevins!!!! Hope they tought him how to play defence this week.

My sentiments exactly. I understand maybe not giving Parfrey a shot, but why not slot Braid in at 12? Or Braid at 10 and Jones at 12? Either is preferable to having Blevins in the lineup- his defence last week wouldn't have cut it in a Manitoba 3rd division game.

Canada is a step up in class from the u.s.a game right? I don't know much about the americas. Hope Cotter gets a good idea of his team after a few games. Hope Canada give their fans a good performance.
well yeah but it be easier to play in canada as it wouldn't be as hot as texas

just watched the Japan game highlights and am shocked Blevins is on the starting 15. Such lazy defending.

About to head down to this one, think it will be a close game but the Scots will squeak it with their advantage in the set pieces. Tickets are still available and I haven't heard a percentage amount sold in quite some time, though I think they were hoping for a crowd around the size of the Ireland game last year(my guess is they'll be slightly down from that).

I keep hearing this talking point that we haven't lost to Scotland at home which is complete crap we lost to them in Toronto the week before we beat them on the west coast a while back.

Well that was an amazing effort by Canada that was deserving of a win. Can't say the same for that reffing- giving Sinclair the red and taking away an easy penalty was what lost it for us. We deserved to win today...

That's gotta go down as one of the worst decisions I have ever seen.

Canada have just been robbed.

One of the worst red cards I've ever seen.

Canada were genuinely impressive - outplayed a strong Scotland team by quite a margin.
Not only that... they did it playing very attractive, exciting rugby.

im going to really be honest here. how the f**k did we win that i thought we were on the back foot the whole game and jebb sinclair should not have been sent off surprised by that

That red card was absolute nonsense! What is the point in having TMO's if they are going to make the wrong call?
We see the same thing with Italy when they are playing a more established nation. Refs are so scared to referee an "upset" in case they get blamed, that they make ridiculous calls to help the established country.

The red card was ridiculous, that wasn't even a penalty. Canada had a penalty from a good position waiting and would have probably won the match. Anyway, Canada was the better team and deserved the victory today.

The tier system got exposed one more time this weekend, with Italy being niled by an understrength Samoan team while Scotland was outplayed in Canada and only won due to the referee.

Well either Canada have massively improved or Scotland have continued their downward slide and are now operating at tier 2 level. That red was a complete joke and stupid by the ref and TMO, quite clearly not leading with the elbow.

Canada's ball handling was very impressive... very few dropped balls.

Scotland were gash at the breakdown though.

Just got back....some observations and a full rundown tommorow...

1. Crowd was amazing both sides supporters, what a great day at BMO.

2. Canada played WAY better this week than last.

3. Thank goodness we weren't the only ones in the stands completely confused by the red card, total horsehit card.

4. Gutted but pleased at the same time even though it was a loss it was the best Canada has played in some time.
