Help me fill in the blanks on this sinister dark mirror version of this beauty:

http://www.therugbyforum.com/threads/34389-2014-EOYT-Week-1-XV?p=687667#post687667

The worst of the weekends games were (for me):

01: T Faulkner or C Faumuina - can you say Penalty Try?
02: Cole - for obvious reasons
03: B Alexander or B Franks - can you say Penalty Try?
04: Juan Cruz Guillemaín - WHO? exactly.
05: Kruis - good weekend for locks but he cost England a try.
06: Wood - Awful, truly awful.
07: McMahon (I know he's a 6 but he backed up last weeks debut with a pretty poor 1st test cap)
08: Vunipola - a shadow of the man he once was - looks tired and in need of a rest.
09: Hougaard or Care (special mention to Pyrgos for being awful when he came on)
10: Farrell or Cruden - take your pick, both pretty bad - special mention for Pollard who we can forgive for being 20 and getting sonned by Sexton
11: Dagg - we'll move him out position for getting skinned by may and nearly butchering the McCaw try.
12: Hernandez - for want of someone else
13: Smith - got skinned and looked ordinary till replaced by Crotty
14: Hendricks
15: Brown - the man coming forward should call for the ball, and that missed try tho?

Disuss/adjust accordingly.

**** edit, could a MOD change the ***le to "[EOYT 2014] Week 1 Worst XV" thanks :)

haha cool thread. Can't really contribute all that much if not for larger entities: I'd say the Argentinian spirit for the weekend, the second unit Aussie and NZ scrums, Willie Le Roux's one-dimensionalitinessosity, the guy who reffed France Fiji missing two yellows...

And I know it's easy for me to say this, but Tom Wood did put in 17/1 tackles. Although I understand you'll say that came from NZ playing proximity ball when it started pouring. What was so 'awful' about him ?
Farrell wasn't particularly good, that's true...
Hougaard had the obvious shockers, easy pick.
Brown needs to be there indeed. He looked like he was around 70% of the play he wanted to make before getting tackled, just overtaken by the Blacks defense but more importantly that was 5 points for England, just....five points. No overflowing imagination needed, just five. Points.

Harsh on Vunipola and Wood, or am I missing something?

Gilmour from Canada deserves some consideration at #6. Moonlight at #8 wasn't much better but it seems harsh since it's not his usual position.

Tom Wood's biggest contribution to the match was two dumb penalties. He did little in attack. Tackled well and industriously, but he's expected to offer more than that.

Think 12 has to go to De Villiers. Those decisions to go to the corner looked rash at the time and worse now.

Think you are being a bit harsh on Gilmour there, white at 9 always deserves recognition though.

is he really ?..seems England have picked him consistently and have been pretty happy with what he's offered. Can only talk about int'lly, but never a big carrier, not particularly skilled like other 3rd rowers around the world, he's always been about discretion and the work in the shadows for me. Then whether he commits penalties that's going to happen in any intense game you're pressured at the breakdown and tend to infringe, not sure what his were right now.
England have been picking that duo on the flanks of Wood+Robshaw which are lackluster but get the job done and contribute a lot of work to the pack...it seems England are pretty happy with that.

Really really harsh on Kruis imo . Went for an intercept when he shouldn't ? Maybe but made 16 tackles missed none and was part of a tight 5 that won a penalty try .....

As a tier 1 one international first choice flanker, yes he is.

In my estimation of his ability, yup. He's not an amazing carrier, but he works hard, gets on the ball and adds some value there. Disrupts the breakdown a little too. He's definitely better than he showed.

Maybe Lancaster and co are happy, but if they are, then I'm not happy with them.

Intense games pressurise players into mistakes, we all know that, but by the same token good and bad performances are often seperated by whether you make those mistakes or not. He did.

In general, I belong to the group of posters on this forum and elsewhere who believe you can two of the following three; Robshaw, Wood, Success. Maybe our glorious leaders will twig on some time.

ha yeah in it rather than running away with it! Nice troll :)

Don't even start with that. Bad enough the match thread was wrecked with that discussion.

Agree

where did you get him making 16 tackles?

I don't think Faumuina deserves to be in there - his scrummaging certainly wasn't great but his general play was excellent.

well hopefully not......FOR RACING METRO.

I don't know why I made it all capitals there, it just felt right at the time.....

Did say worst of a good 2nd row showing... But Scotty has topped out with Hamilton.

Kruis is forgiven..... :)

No NZ/England trolling please..... Had enough of that elsewhere.
