2013 Pacific Nations Cup: USA v Tonga

These commentators suck, have always hated when they do games here, they do the voice over for RWC and IRB 7s matches too. Well, the color man does, he is former Eagle 15s and 7s cap Brian Hightower. So dry, boring, and his voice just infuriates me.

Yeah I notice them mispronounce names all the time, even Eagles players and they butchered even some easy Canadian names. Though up here we aren't much better, our stream guys are crap and the TV guys are cast off English guys e.g. Nigel Reed and Luke Wileman(who emphasizes CON in any word that has it hilariously....what a great CONNNversion...LOL) and Brian Spanton on colour who is busy blabbing about his golf game and misses yellow cards.

Yeah these US guys calling the game are pretty average at best. Former Tongan player Willie Lose usually calls most of the Pac nations games and he usually does a pretty good job.
A while ago back around 2006-2007 the ABC here in Oz had the broadcast rights for the pac nations cup. The first time they would have the rights for any form of international rugby. I don't know what his name was, but they had a guy who calls Netball games of all sports doing most of the commentary solo for all the games. In all my years watching rugby I had never heard a a better, more hilarious and entertaining color commentator. Shame they lost the rights in 2008 and he went back to calling Netball.

Eagles running out of time, tryless in three games this spring so far, need to get three up soon and than hope for the try at the death.

final score 18 - 9 Tonga
Pretty horrible game. Reseting scrums really killed the flow of the game. Piukala man of the match for me.

Fulltime, nine point victory for Tonga. The Eagles play Fiji in Japan in four days or so.

USA were really disappointing, especially since the game was winnable and Tonga were nowhere near spectacular. The US just killed themselves, and some of the things they did in that game were really mind boggling.
