Interesting sub. Somewhat surprised not to see Dolan at 8 and Clever to openside, particularly on defensive scrums. I'm a big Dolan fan though. He isn't fully back in form coming off of his injury but he's basically a LaValla clone.

They say Paterson is hurting too wonder who they'd sub in for him if he can't play in the 2nd?

44' JPN try 14 Toshiaki Hirose - USA 15-24 Japan
45' JPN con no good 15 Ayumu Goromaru

Penalty, Tanaka calls for scrum but Hirose wants points...ref listens to Tanaka since he called it first...almost a pushover try...pemalty, another scrum...knock on by Kikutani (not called by ref) but then USA knocks on, another scrum 5m out for JPN...another USA penalty, how has a penalty try not been awarded yet...scrum again...there we go, JPN finally get a penalty try, Andrew Suniula had to hop into scrum at blindside, almost pushed over but USA penalized at scrum again

50' USA YC 3 Eric Fry (repeated infrigement at scrum I think)
50' USA 17 Nick Wallace on 19 Cam Dolan off
53' JPN try 24 Penalty try - USA 15-29 Japan
53' JPN con good 15 Ayumu Goromaru - USA 15-31 Japan
54' JPN sub 19 Shinya Makabe on, 4 Hitoshi Ono off

Blown call on the knock on leads to a yellow card and a penalty try. Bull****.

USA scrum now just getting wrecked, Japan just embarrassing them right now.

Brian Doyle down, leg injury of sorts. 5m scrum in USA end for USA in 61', Fry should be back on now.

61' USA sub 19 Cam Dolan on 17 Nick Wallace off
61' JPN sub 20 Justin Ives on 5 Shoji Ito off

62' JPN try 9 Fumiaki Tanaka - USA 15-36 Japan
63' JPN con good 15 Ayumu Goromaru - USA 15-38 Japan

It's not a new problem, but someone has to ask Tolkin what his plan is to deal with our scrum woes. It's absurd how bad it is. USA Rugby should take the money they're saving by having him as coach instead of an EOS type and use it to lure our US-eligible pro props in Europe.

68' USA try 14 Luke Hume - USA 20-38 Japan (nice combo from my club mates at Old Blue RFC of NY!)
69' USA con no good 15 Chris Wyles
71' USA sub 21 Robbie Shaw on 9 Mike Petri off
71' USA sub 22 Seamus Kelly on 12 Andrew Suniula off

Yep, USA back on the board but still down by more than 2 tries. Nice work by Hume picking up his own kick.
