not really, but I see what you mean. But Toulon are loaded with top int'l talent, it's not like they're mid-caliber int'l players, and the two players you're talking about (Bastareaud and Mermoz) aren't starters for the XV de France either. And Bastareaud's always been an impact player, but honestly Toulon ought to play him more.

Check out this link, and vote for who you'd want for the French XV per category:

No dispute about their quality players.....but they are a very top French team playing in a French league yet cannot supply one French player to the French team only one sub and one standby............sad really!

mm...yeah, I guess. Well I don't see it like that, Toulouse has always been our stronghold and it's certainly just that still today.
Speaking of which, this is what we'll be missing against the AB's, fellas:

I'm afraid I really have to agree with them, I think it's very apparent that there are too many foreign player in the top 14. And that's great for the top 14 and the Heineken cup where we have very high quality teams but in my opinion it must be has to have a bad knock on effect to the French national side. Toulon is a really good example, very rich and important team that obviously invest a lot of time and money in their international star players, but seem to have little time or money to invest in local french talent.

Sounds a bit like what's going on in the FA Premiership and the effect it's having on the Englamd football team.

interesting posts there racingmetro92.

I knew the figures for the Top 14, but it's interesting to see the Aviva league is quite close really. I wouldn't have thought they had 38%...I thought rather smt like 28%...

There's good, and there's bad with the high number of foreigners.

suppose its not that bad in england with foreign players

If i am to understand Racing's charts and no doubt he has done his homework correctly,
France have 322 foreigners in 14 teams = 23 foreign players per team.
England have 308 foreign players in 12 teams = 25.6 foreigners per team.
So just maybe the ongoing very boring we have more foreigners than you may now stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If i have made a mistake my apoligies before i am blasted into outer space by the the usual nothing else better to dooooooooooers
