[2013 EOYT] England

I weigh myself in stone
Lift KG at the gym and
measure food in pounds

We don't discriminate we just use all the measurement available

Yes.

Usually only in relation to weighing of people though... you wouldnt measure a car in stone, for example.

lol okay. Thx. But I would imagine it to be a bit rude if you, for e.g., met your gf's parents for the first time and used the expression "stone" in the conversation, right ? It's slang, like, an expression to use amongst the youth or ppl you know, right ?

haha, so I see ! We're too selective in France, aren't we...we never gave the rest a try.

Huh? :p

btw, did you know it was basically France that decimalised everything?

They should have gone base 12 though:

Nope. It's the standard unit of measurement.

Most people wouldn't have a clue how much you were talking about if you said "I weigh 180lbs" and not that many would fare any better if you used Kg.

naaah come on. If I say I weigh 80kg, any random person in the UK would understand, stop it !

They might... they might not.
Depending on what people do with their lives they may never use any other unit.
I only really became practically familiar with Kg (as in... how much 20kg actually weighs) when I was about 15 when I started going to the gym.

I can guarantee you that the most commonly used unit is stone.

Tuilagi is out of all three tests; he tore his peck muscle. Corbisiero had his knee drained of fluid and has 2 weeks of rehab. Hopefully he will be fit for the 1st test v Australia.

Gutted. I genuinely believe he invoked the fear of God into the all blacks that game, in a way he hadn't done since the England/Wales game of the 2012 six nations, although he did some monstering on the tour of South Africa. The Saffas tend to be used to big, powerful guys like Tuilagi.

hah...good to know, I actually learned something today.

I would just convert it. 80 kg = 12 stone 8.

shyt, really ?! :p
ok...

and my apologies for this totally random question.

Tuilagi is a huge loss for England. One of the only genuine game breakers in the side in my opinion. Doesn't even need to take the pass on occasions. His threat alone causes teams problems in midfield.

Brian Moore made an interesting point about the difference of how Dylan Hartley hooks the ball as should be preferred under the new rules and Tom Youngs who still steps over the ball as is preferred by Leicester. Both are dynamic in the loose, good when throwing line out ball and are good in the scrum but Dylan's experience with hooking the ball may swing things his way?

I'd be happy with either Hartley or Youngs starting at 2 and Lawes or Launchbury at lock. All four are in excellent form and are very, very good so if you have can choose 2 excellent guys to start and have 2 epic impact subs. I don't think either will lose out.

Dylan is better in the set-piece; both throwing and hooking/scrummaging.

Tom is better around the park. But if it's the case that he can't hook, as opposed to Leicester not wanting him to, then we could have a problem.

It's mad that Hartley is considered our safest lineout option, considering he used to be considered our worst option and hasn't improved since then, the only thing that's changed is Thompson retiring.
Why do we have so few decent darts throwers?!

I always had a problem with Dylan being a bit...er...'mental' at times. I wish we could do better and perhaps Youngs - who throws well to Parling and even Launchbury and others - might still edge it but he needs to learn how to hook and fast if he does get tapped.

I have hope that Youngs can learn to hook - I mean, every other hooker in the premiership does it, it's just not in Tigers game plan to. They know if they get the 8 man shove on the go there's a higher chance of winning a penalty, so do that.
Hopefully Rowntree can work his magic.

Hartley for me; now is not the time to wait to see if Tom Youngs can hook properly in a test match.

I don't know... we can only hope that LCD spends a season at the oche.

How's Webber's darts doing? In fact, just how is he doing? I have an inkling he might be a better player than both if only allowed to prove it.

It's more a case of asking whether he has been told not to, or whether he can't do it.
Rowntree should be able to figure that out in training.
Hartley will not be starting the first test given his recent ban.

Webber is going great. Very good leader from what I've seen and he's one of the few English players who actually runs into passes instead of standing still and falling straight to ground when he's tackled.
His darts are confusing...
He goes very well when Attwood is in charge, then completely falls apart when he goes off...
