I'd say a 5-2 split is more to do with injuries to O'Driscoll, O'Gara, D'arcy, Bowe and Horgan than a potential option for the World Cup.

Agree Snoop but just pointing out that I hope Management don't get ideas. I hope it injury and advise from fitness teams that likes of regulars is simply down to fact they still 1 week short of pre-season before being ready.

As for comments about what happens if Sexton is replaced - Just pointing out before Felix's last injury he was playing most of his games on the wing so Trimble to13 and everyone move in one isn't a big deal.

Backs aren't too bad but we may well be crushed up front. O'Leary could compound issues by doing his worst with already poor ball.
Could see us losing this game and that really wouldn't do the squad any good at all.

On the plus side good to see Kearney back and even better to see Flannery in there. Hope Jones gets a half.
Would have liked a stronger bench though, in case the game turns into a Murrayfield nightmare.

scotland could take this weak ireland side to the cleaners its a very under strenght irish team. but i think they made the right call don't want any injuries. but scotland have nerley a full strenght team which is strange.

Lads this game isn't about winning it's the game where we test the guys returning from injury (Kearney, O'Leary, Flannery) and just see how players competing for the same spot go. I presume we will see D. Ryan move to 6 at some stage and maybe McLaughlin could see his time in the 2nd row. It's a worthwhile exercise and then when we put everyone in to the mix from next week we work our best combinations and be ready for RWC. Obviously a win would be nice but in larger scale of things we will know who is up to task

I think both teams will give it their all a lot of guys are returning from injury and will be desperate to get on the plane for New Zealand. Scotland can be a tricky team for Ireland they wont take them lightly

15 - Rob Kearney - Probably the right decision. Needs international game time. Chance to test his form.
14 - Andrew Trimble - Again, probably the right decision. In contention for the bench or maybe even a starting position in the RWC.
13 - Fergus McFadden - Agree with starting McFadden but I may have started him at 12 with O'Malley at 13. I think McFadden could really show his worth as at centre against Scotland.
12 - Paddy Wallace - Really silly, stupid decision. Perfect opportunity to test McFadden-O'Malley centre partnership or even to test D'Arcy's form. I don't think Wallace should even go to the RWC
11 - Luke Fitzgerald - Right decision. Has been pushed out of the starting position by Earls this year. His form improved for Leinster towards the end of the season. Maybe he can prove his worth in this match.
10 - Jonathan Sexton - Neither here nor there really. We need a few quality players I suppose but the Scots will be gunning for Sexton and with a sub par back row to protect him we could see Jonny getting a bit beaten up
9 - Tomas O’Leary - so so so so so so so so so so so so so stupid. Conor Murray won't be tested now unless it's against Connacht.
1 - Tom Court - Fair enough
2 - Sean Cronin - Fair enough
3 - Tony Buckley - Woulda had Jamie Hagan. This front row however is proof of our lack of depth in this area.
4 - Donnacha Ryan - It was either him or McLaughlin. I'd have rather seen McLaughlin but I have no major complaints about this
5 - Leo Cullen - G'man Leo
6 - Mike McCarthy - What is the point in this?
7 - Niall Ronan - See Mike McCarthy
8 - Denis Leamy - I guess this is sort of fair enough if we're playing a second string team

16 - Jerry Flannery - I agree with this
17 - Marcus Horan - Not gonna go to the RWC. Just threw him in for lack of choices i'd imagine.
18 - John Hayes - Woulda chosen Jamie Hagan to start and Buckley on bench
19 - Mick O’Driscoll - Why Deccie? what is the point?
20 - Kevin McLaughlin - Should be starting
21 - Isaac Boss - I'd have had Murray if he's not gonna be starting
22 - Felix Jones - Annoying for him not to be starting but hopefully he gets some game time

Ah fair dos! Not a bad pre-season fixture for both if you ask me! Also might have read somewhere that Ireland have a warm up vs the Stormers? Or am I imagining that one?

Mincer to Out-half
Sexton to bench

And not Trimble as some people have suggested. Keep Trimble on the wing where he belongs.

As others have pointed out, Mincer will be travelling as emergency ten, so its probably a good idea he plays there.

Would be really looking forwards to seeing Sexton-Mincer-McFadden, save they're behind a pretty substandard pack and have TOL passing to them.

I don't think I can recall a weaker Irish back-row... ever. They've sent stronger back-rows off to America for the Churchill Cup. Is Muldoon injured? McLaughlin should be starting ahead of all of those. Dominic Ryan is a better bet than Niall Ronan.

But the Munster lads selected to play for Ireland didnt play in that game ........... O'Leary, Buckley, Ronan, Flannery, Hayes (bench), O'Driscoll and Leamy (bench).

Dont care about the provincial split but some of these guys should be anywhere near the international side.
