World Rugby u20 Championship

This getting way too dangerous for Ireland. Scotland have a better team and if we lose that then it it's only one game away from not being in the comp next year.

The Irish underage system just isn't build to churn out good u20 teams.

Lack of good club academies.... That's the Celtic system for ya

Can't deny that they've deserved to be beaten in all three games. Equally can't deny that Ronan Kelleher, Tom O'Toole, Jack O'Sulllivan and Angus Curtis would have helped the team enormously had they been fit.

You can learn more in defeat than in victory. Ireland' have learned a lot this tournament! Some players who may have been on the cusp of academy contract now won't get them. No shame in that. If the four players listed above and Caelan Doris become quality players as I suspect they will, the age group rather than the u20 World Cup will prove to be a success.

I'm not complaining, the system works at what it needs to be good at i.e. producing players. The success or lack thereof of u20 teams isn't really relevant in the grand scheme of things. I'm willing to put up with watching poor u20 teams if it means success at senior level. The biggest winners from this from an Irish perspective are the injured players. None of the fit players have enhanced their reputation, even Doris. (Who admittedly doesn't need to given that he already has a senior Leinster contract.)

Yup, and France's discipline is their biggest problem, had the referee been more strict last night France could've ended up with a lot more yellow cards than just the one they got.

And the trick is that their opponents need to run them tired as much as possible, their big guys were great the first 30 minutes, and then they started huffing and puffing and were very slow to lineout and there was so many guys cramping up...
Shame the Boks couldn't take advantage though.

Impressed by Cameron Woki, Jordan Joseph, Clément Laporte, both Louis Carbonel and Romain N'Tamack at 10 (who has scored a try in each of his last 5 games)

Except for Joseph who is still only 17 (MoM for me against the Boks) they're all playing Top 14 rugby and making their mark.

Itv4 at 6pm,
No more World rugby stream :D (mine kept playing up loads through the groups)

Baby Boks not good this time round
We did 2 on England past Saturday, test match and 7's final
Think they will get one on us tonight

And Scotland beat them in a historic ODI match so it was not a great weekend for them. i 100% believe that England will win the game tonight. This SA team is not that great without its star player, Damian Willemse.

Ideas for reform for the future of the U20 World Championship:
Expand the tournament to 16 teams and have 4 groups instead of 3. The top 2 teams in each group progress to the cup quarter finals, and the bottom 2 progress to the 'bowl' quarter finals (a bit like the 7s format). I believe that some of the sides in the relegation matches are better than some of the sides in the main cup (Georgia arguably better than Argentina this year, and perhaps even Italy would give this current South Africa side a game). I also feel that relegation should be looked at. Perhaps the lowest seeded side over a 2 year period should be relegated to give them a chance. I feel that Japan have barely had a chance this year after being handed a very tough group and then they have been handed a very tough relegation play off game against Georgia, and this is despite them showing very promising signs. Give them 2 years to prove their worth I say.
Thoughts on an expanded tournament anyone?

I don't see why not, it would do a lot for developing countries for their best players to go toe to toe with their opposite numbers from the top countries. It would make the competition a lot simpler as well.

Pumitas get yellow carded for not understanding english (ref said "white, leave", player didnt understood).
