What TV Show's are you watching/looking forward to?

I can't get into the TV show, read the books first and any inaccuracy, even though they're designed to be different, irks me. Avoiding spoilers is going to be difficult now, what makes it worse is that I feel G.R.R.M has created a too expansive world and character base and hasn't a ****ing clue what to do with it now.

I can imagine that, I still haven't forgiven Peter Jackson for leaving Tom Bombadil out of the LoTR films! Saying that I have a friend who read all the books first and is still mad keen on the TV series.

How far did you get with the TV programmes? Many characters have now run out of book plot (so I'm told, I haven't read them), so you might find it more tolerable now than in earlier series. You're probably right in what you say about George RR Martin, it's understandable that the TV series condenses multiple book characters into one TV character and ignores some all together. We could even see the TV series leading book plots before the whole thing is concluded (if GRRM lives that long)!

The only thing I don't like about GoT is the 3 young actresses TBH.

Which three? I can't think of any of the main cast whose acting I have a problem with, although in interviews / panels I've watched on YouTube, some of the younger actresses I've seen came across as typical teenage girls, which is understandable, but it was hard to correlate with the on screen personas I associate with them.

As I understand it the tv series of GOT is now ahead of the books. GRR Martin can't write them fast enough. Anyway looking forward to episode 1, season 6 of GOT. Doubt I can stay awake for 2am showing, seeing as got work late that day, still it should hopefully be on catch on skygo by the time I wake up on Monday morning so at least can watch it when I get back home rather than wait til 9pm.

Turner, Williams and Clarke are all just wooden IMO.

Esp Clarke.

Wonder if this season will cover any of the things that was t put into last season from the books

I take your point about Emilia Clarke, although I've sort of accepted that Dany is distant, aloof, and guarded because of who she is. I've accepted Sansa being a bit of a non-entity for the same sort of reason. I can't agree about Maisie Williams being wooden, but each to their own. Now surely I must deserve some +REP for avoiding the obvious "wood" pun in a thread mentioning Emilia Clarke!

I'm not too clear on what's book canon and what is new to TV, although I'm pretty sure that the two biggest spoilers doing the rounds follow on from things that are TV only (as it stands). If you're in to spoilers, take a look at a channel called Alt Shift X on YouTube - the product of a number of people with too much time on their hands, but all very clever stuff!

I guess I'm also judging their acting in other stuff as well
Clarke - Was wooden again in Terminator (crap film but she was poor in it as well)
Williams - Maybe not wooden so much but she seems a one diemensial actress
Turner - not holding my breath for XM:A

Just my views I guess, like I think Clarke looks are very overrated too.

Not sure I've seen them in anything else.

I suspect that Emilia Clarke may be a real life faceless man! I've never seen someone who can look so completely different so often with different hair / clothes / make up. Some looks meh, other looks, whatever the opposite of meh is (hem?). In Dany mode, definitely hem, although the bright blonde hair with dark eyebrows looks a bit weird. That reminds me, I must rewatch season one....I don't remember if the carpet matched the curtains!

Best actor on GOT imo is Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister.

I agree. I'm not too sure why I'm still watching, but I definitely like him.

It's just ***s and dragons as Ian McShane put it! Sadly many owners of said ***s have *** free contracts now that they're big names in their own right.

I'm looking forward to it hugely and still tempted to stay up for the simucast.

There's many spoilers online based on the trailers, will they be right or will the writers have some surprises for us?

Yeah lots of ***s and dungeons and Dragons type story lines not sure what everyone sees in it.

Talking of Ian McShane caught the first episode of Deadwood the other day forgot how good that was.

Deadwood's been on my "to watch" list for aaaaaaages but I've still not gotten around to it.

Started watching Walking Dead last week - got through season one.
Didn't think it was anything special, but it was decent enough. I imagine it gets better as it goes along, as people are really mad for it.
Wills start S2 sometime in the not too distant future.

Can't see you liking the rest of the seasons TBH then.

Deadwood is good.

From memory the Start of season 2 is very slow but it does pick up so stick with it.

There's a big tonal change in S2. Where S1 is more of a zombie survival, S2 onwards is more of a human drama with zombies providing a background threat. I say try to get to the end of S2 and see what you think at that point.

I definitely wouldn't say it gets better though. The show is strangely addictive, and I have chain watched it more than shows I prefer, and there are some stand-out episodes, but the show is also incredibly frustrating in its lack of direction, the characters are so OTT that it makes them a little unbelievable, and it's full of tropes and lazy scriptwriting.

Certainly felt that in the last 2 seasons, some of the characters are so annoying you are kind of happy when they get slotted (whiney kid and fat medic bird) plus the last season in particular feels more like a big brother docu drama with everyone banging on about there feeling and the moral choices that conflict their delicate little minds. Its a ZA ffs not the Oprea Winfrey show.

Not a chance. Will wait for it and enjoy it properly tomorrow evening when I'm awake.

Can't watch it til Thursday so naturally I will not be on the internet for a few days.
