I saw this article on The Australian website and was intrigued by it's ***le

My thoughts were that it's a bit rich them saying that union had been poaching the league players for years when prior to the professional rugby era, it was them doing all the poaching.

This is especially rich coming from Ray Price, who himself was a rugby union international, before he went to league

Anyway, maybe the ARU are in for a tough time

WHat are your thoughts?

Ben Elias and his snakey talk does make sense. It's a travesty for the ARU the things he's saying but it seems that way especially considering the money League is offering the young star Wallabies. Like I said before maybe SANZAR needs to somehow come up with the money to stop these good players leaving. It seems to me if you want to play in the tri-nations it's a start after that you get a pay rise by moving to League or the northren hemisphere.

Yep, it's funny how he's taking about attacking the ARU, when a lot of the Australia League players go to France to play Union ... personally I think both codes would be better off if they called a truce, and spent the money on promoting the game, and developing young players ... I don't thing SANZAR will provide any money unless NZ and SA union players are targeted in large numbers

Rugby League was invented so they could pay players to play. Union wouldn't allow it so a few people changed the rules so it would come under a different sport.

Now they are *****ing about it being the opposite way around? Hypocrites.

Like a lot of things in recent years like Australian mutterings that "scrums don't matter anymore" their chickens are coming home to roost. Simple as that. O'Neill had a decade of running the game at a time when the Australian economy was booming and spending power was rising and squandered it and while Australia never did go into recession the window of opportunity has passed surely.

Furthermore if its AU$1 Billion flowing into the NRL's coffers I seriously think the actual Super League might want to be looking over their shoulders. Because I gets the feeling a lot of Australian league stars currently in England may be flying home over the next 12 months. What say you Dan? Any rumours of a raid on the Superleagues's star Aussie talent?
