Was Sam Owen Banned?

And Olyy, I'm sure your parents live in France but, unfortunately, like all of us here have issues tolerating the very overrated, mediocre quality of food...surely one of the cons of living in France, ay...ah well. I guess it takes some getting used to...
WTF does this even mean?

Also everyone knows that the best chocolate is Cadbury's chocolate.

From the Midlands.

Like me.

So gracious to acknowledge the technicality of Japanese cooking when Tokyo has more Michelin stars than the top ten French cities put together.

Have I EVER gone overboard??!!

hell, I haven't even recieved a PM from a mod in the last 18 months regarding my posts... I think I'm okay...

Come now. I think everyone here actually should have received a soft ban some time or other. I include myself there as well of course LOL.

if you saw the number of Japanese interns we get in our kitchens and hotels here, you'd start understanding what France means to them. They've even got formative centers over there to learn French "bien-séance", étiquette, and of course cuisine. Every single big chef restaurant or pastry-maker or fine chocolate shop opens, it's Tokyo and Japan that capitalize on having it there the most. Pierre Hermé Paris has like 5 shops over there. Not to even talk about cheeses and alcohols and other similar products.
Having lots of Michelin stars is a good thing, but that's just the money you invest into the business, that's not cuisine history and ancestral know-how or refinement or innovation necessarily in itself. Tomorrow, the U.S. or even England can invest loads into the restaurant business and overtake France, that certainly doesn't mean they've got "better cuisine", it's ridiculous to measure things like that.

When you understand the importance of food here, when you *REALLY* do, i.e. live here for at least a while or really know the mentality here; and don't base everything off quick, directionless stats you got off google or wiki 15 seconds ago, foregone conclusions and what not, come back here and talk to me about gastronomy and tell me what France represents in that sector.

France's relationship with food is analogous to England's with football.

Yeah we may have "invented"/codified it - but in reality, there are a lot of other countries that do it far better, despite our obsession.

mmm yes, I'm afraid French gastronomy is overrated, never was really all that great to begin with, all that...from Irish and English folks on a Rugby forum, I mean, they've got to know their shiit ;)

Fairn enough it probably is almost as bad as a French person living in Quatar going on about rugby. :D

Put it this way; the national dish in France is by this point probably steak hache and frites - which is incredible but not it's not as if every french mother / father cooks duck a l'orange and coquilles saint-jacques in the evening - so to some extent there are myths about French gastronomy.

At it's best its incredible but it's not really every day food, unlike Italian food where you can make many great things in limited time, on a budget, with limited skills. That's food of the people.

obviously someone who knows not a lot about food, there are many great dishes that are everyday food in France, the same aplies in France if you know what you are doing, just one small idea, you have Shepards pie we have Hache Parmentier which is usually duck or wild boar instead of the minced beef, quick cheap the boar is even cheaper costs me nothing and beats Shepards pie by a country mile

I dunno we're not even on the same intellectual level. You mighty satirical genius.

ah ! I'm sorry, you seem to have mistook me for Feicarsinn.
And I'm not responsible for what you say, I can only comment on it. I didn't say anything about intellectual caliber here, but look back at your comment about "Quatar" and tell me you don't look like an Irish redneck from deep inside the mountains. :p
I can only take you for what you post here.

for the record, I think you're a good poster but are a little aggressive some times. OK ??!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus, can we please get back to the plot here ?!! How are we losing our way, talking about eating Japanese sea creature's sperm and France having the so called best "cuisine" in the world - what does that even mean, "cuisine", ooh booh hoo hoo...
The point is Sam Owen has been BANNED. Let's honor that topic for it was bestowed upon us to discuss that.
