The Lions have had a nice week's break giving them time to prepare against this weekend's game against the Cheetahs and hopefully shake up a team that's in the middle of a difficult losing streak. Having made some changes to their pack they're hoping to get a similar result to the one they had last time they played against the Cheetahs scraping a 5 point victory.

The Cheetahs will have their heads held a little higher coming into this game. Their attacking prowess has been strong over the past few weeks and after a wonderful win for them against the Brumbies last week they were also unlucky to lose against the Hurricanes two weeks prior to that game after the 'Canes scored a try in the dying seconds of the game. The defence has been somewhat shaky, but they toured strongly in NZ and will be looking to take this game by the scruff of the neck, given the low morale that the Lions must be feeling.

Lions: 1. JC Janse van Rensburg, 2. Edgar Marutlulle, 3. Kevin Buys, 4. Wikus van Heerden, 5. David de Villiers, 6. Cobus Grobbelaar, 7. Joshua Strauss, 8. Warren Whiteley, 9. Rory Kockott, 10. Burton Francis, 11. Deon van Rensburg, 12. Doppies la Grange (capt), 13. Dylan Des Fountain, 14. Lionel Mapoe, 15. Michael Killian.

Replacements: 16. Martin Bezuidenhout, 17. Pat Cilliers, 18. Franco van der Merwe, 19. Michael Rhodes, 20. Jano Vermaak, 21. Elton Jantjies, 22. Jaco Taute.

Cheetahs: 1. Coenie Oosthuizen, 2. Adriaan Strauss (capt), 3. WP Nel, 4. Francois Uys, 5. Wilhelm Steenkamp, 6. Heinrich Brussow, 7. Ashley Johnson, 8. Davon Raubenheimer, 9. Sarel Pretorius, 10. Sias Ebersohn, 11. Phillip Burger, 12. Corne Uys, 13. Robert Ebersohn, 14. Rayno Benjamin, 15. Riaan Viljoen.

Replacements: 16. Ryno Barnes, 17. Lourens Adriaanse, 18. Walti Vermeulen, 19. Kabamba Floors, 20. Tewis de Bruyn, 21. Naas Olivier, 22. Hennie Daniller.

Cheetahs had a great attack last week but shitty defense, on a side note they are playing against a team that also has a shitty defense so an open game that could go both sides.

Hoping the Cheetahs will take this one.

Dylan Des Fountain.. didn't know he was back from Aironi. Decent enough player but the Lions are going nowhere buying up the 3rd/4th choice players from other unions. That said, I'd hate to see Juan de Jongh leave the Stormers even though he isn't getting regular gametime.

I wouldn't be surprised if both teams shored up a bit on defense; these derby matches are usually tighter affairs but then again both teams are looking to attack and have probably the worst defenses in the tournament so it might get silly as well. Either way the Cheetahs are just the better team even with the amount of injuries they suffered and should take this (though they lost to the Lions at home earlier in the season...).

I feel this will be a much harder game seeing that it is a derby in Joburg. The cheetahs on form are really good but the lions can be devastating as well. I have a feeling this one will be much closer than anticipated and have to rule that the lions will edge this one out.

Although I hope the cheetahs can win seeing though they can better their log position.<O:p</O:p
