USA news & politics

I wanted to visit the US this year on the way to Mexico for our honeymoon. We won’t, and I also won’t be taking US Dollars, but exchange for Peso’s instead.

Something, something engage diplomacy. Something, something we will work with the President in addressing his concerns.

I doubt we do much else. The other European countries not included in the tariffs will be wary of causing a fuss.

Theres just no strength or will shown by europe, its fractured and weak, and well whonis going to stand up to Trump?

Its easy for Scandanavian leaders to tweet repetitive slogans, but whos going to stand and **** off the US edge of Greenlands coast?

Something is up though, why wouldnt Trump lire Greenlanders in with some economic advantage, some prosperous future talk, why does this all have to happen right now? In the grand scheme of things he could tee up Greenland and blame the next guy for ******* up the deal, or he could at least come about it in a more nuanced and timely manner, why does he have to bring the hammer down asap, especially with Venezuela, Russia Ukraine, ICE raids all ongoing?

I think hes sick, i geneuinely think hes after a massive legacy pay off before he goes.

After all the crude comments he made about Biden's mental stability.

Trump will be the exact same age as Biden was when he left office, when he leaves office...

Amazing to think 12 years of American politics will have been led by 70 to 80 year old men clinging onto life like Mr Burns.

They have to impliment a mandatory retirement age FFS, otherwise we could see an 81 year old Hillary Clinton run again hahaha

While it should have happened earlier, this is the point where the rest of NATO have to make a stand or they will forever be butt ****** by America. If they roll over, and try to please or make a deal, then all it suggests to Trump and future administrations is that Europe/NATO are weak and we can bully them into doing what we want. On top of Russia and China seeing how weak they are.

The EU especially really needs to look at becoming as self-dependent as possible and I soon see the UK being frozen out of large local trade markets. I think the era of long distance trade is going to start declining and the big powers creating spheres of influence in terms of trade and security.

Unfortunately Europe has repeatedly shown itself to be completely incapable of taking any strong actions on anything. Europe has already signalled loud and clear to the world it is weak and has been doing that for years.

The thing is Europe does have the capacity to fight back, certainly economically. What it lacks is will. Europe seems overly cautious and more afraid of being branded imperialists than actually fighting back.

Until European politicians and European people get over the self inflicted guilt of the past and play by the same rules as everyone else, they will forever punch WAY below their weight. You wouldn't know it was the 2nd largest economic block in the world with the 2nd largest combined military spending the way they are so feeble.

So what you’re saying is, Europe is Adam
Beard. I agree.

Couldnt agree more, this type of situation was the reasoning behind the EU expansion in the first place, whats the point in creating a bloc to challenge on the global stage, if whenever its tested they just refer to independant countries to whimperly (is that a word) take action alone.

Speaking to the inlaws the other day, hardcore CDU voters, quite left leaning as youd expect rich Bevarians to be, they are disgusted with the German response, which apparently was supported by a round of apologies to everyone involved lol

US having far right presidents may be a new norm but politicians everywhere will be thinking Trump's let's call it... antics are not yet a permanent feature and will go when he does. There's far right governments around the world including in the EU who don't do the dumb Trump stuff.
