Under 20 6N - 2018

If Harry Byrne is the best 10 of his age in Ireland it's a grim state of affairs he is a poor poor player.
Jack O'Sullivan looks a right beast for us in the future anyway.

Michael Lowry is injured but is a real class act, and highly regarded up north, though he is on the small side, he's lightning fast and I think was heavily involved in U19's

Not really. They were always poor at this level up through the years and never expected to challenge

They're certainly not poor. There are a few weaknesses and some players blow hot and cold but theres areas of strength too.

Really pushing the limits of u20 eligibility
Sean O'Brien 3.0. Connacht Sean O'Brien is actually a very very decent player as well.

On the England Ireland game. If England put out a decent team we'll get rocked.

Maybe... in the last 2 years England have been using the u20's as a development opportunity for coaches as well as players.

I remain undecided on this concept, because I feel we've benefited hugely from our strong age grade systems in the past few years, and this new developmental approach to the coaching staff has significantly impacted the playing quality.

Kind of feels like we're in between years as well,
By all accounts our current crop of u18s are **** hot, and our better players in the u20s are u18s players

Yeah, but its more than a player quality issue. Definite coaching problems the last couple of years.

Of that...:

Ibitoye and Earl and Brand are the Standouts.

Loader, Street, Lamb and Butler are decent.

Hill is very highly rated, and there are 11 of the 23 who I've seen very little of due the tournament not being televised properly this year.

Not impressed by the Olowo fella.

Moore has looked distinctly average considering his rep coming in to the tournament

Surprised at no Redpath, he's been standout for me (though possibly just cause I've been looking out for him)

I think our under 20s next year should be very good judging by the pedigree in Munster and Leinster that year.

England are missing a few players though I mean if they really wanted to go all out Smith, Isiewke, curry x2 could all be in the squad for the JRWC which I feel they should do if Eddie doesn't plan on actually playing them in SA.

Thing is England use the 6N's as a JRWCtrail and experiment quite a bit.

Don't want to name him while he's still in school but I presume the Munster player you're talking about is the outside centre? Biggest talents coming out of schools in Leinster are a second row, openside and flyhalf.

Ireland have gone down that path too. While it diminishes the 6 Nations, it seems to be better for player development.

Italy won versus Scotland 45-31 this afternoon.
I think this is the best italian U20 6N ever. Well, not that hard to say, actually.

You'd be correct yeah. Plays 12/13 and 15 I believe. Dead cert for the academy it looks like. Our representation on the 20s next year should be pretty strong maybe around par with Leinster next season based on youth teams, but we'll see how it goes.

HE is a good one alright. Seems to score a spectacular try in every game.
