Aha that was crazy,
someone kicks a ball onto the pitch as they throw the lineout, when a ruck is formed the English 9 sees the other ball and thinks it's squirted out the ruck and picks and goes, while the two packs are still fighting over the one in the middle of the pile of bodies
Took the ref a few seconds to realise what was happening, he called a knockon at first

If Harry Byrne is the best 10 of his age in Ireland it's a grim state of affairs he is a poor poor player.
Jack O'Sullivan looks a right beast for us in the future anyway.

This 20s team are not a great bunh but all you want is 3 or 4 every year

This is it in a nutshell.

Four games in, I'd say Jack O'Sullivan is the pick of Ireland's players by a long way. Ronan Kelleher and Tommy O'Brien are next up. Angus Curtis has lots of talent but is he too small? Caelan Doris is injured but very highly rated. Hugh O'Sullivan and Jack Aungier are really highly thought of by Leinster and Tom O'Toole by Ulster. Jonny Stewart has played for Ulster already. If this age group provides those listed above as pro players, it's not a bad haul.

Didn't see tonight's game but Byrne is an u19.

Hasn't had some nice moments in other games as well as some **** ones.

The thing is too you usually get 1 who is a fringe squad player at this level who will develop in to a provincal starter. And then you get a guy like JJ Hanrahan. A worldclass U20 10 who lost his way and now is a squad player.

That attempt at clearing out the English 13 by the 2 French players was disgusting, lucky they didn't cause a serious injury with that. Wtf were they thinking? One could argue that was intent to injure as both went in the same way, lifted the guy together, turned him over and dropped him on his head.

I just watched the U20 Wales-Italy.

Horrible game for Wales, impresive defense of Italy.

It is true that the weather conditions in Wales ironically benefited the Italian game, but the Welsh were out of the match for really long periods, and had too many unforced errors (they actually looked like the average Italian team :D).

In attack Italy didn't have to do too much, but almost everything they tried they did it right. It was refreshing to see again an Italian dominant tight five, after a few years with problems at the prop and especially lock positions. They even pushed the Welsh scrum a couple times when they were missing a back rower...

But the man of the match was Rizzi, and it was really deserved. He is a great player, and yesterday controlled the tempo and pace of the game for most of the match. His open field kicking was outstanding, gaining lots of territory in a match that didn't allow the wings to run carrying the ball.

I wonder if he could get the 10 in Italy's main squad at some point (though Allan is playing OK), but also fs he would be able to play 12 at top level.

In any case, this is a good Italian generation despite the huge loss against France. They were pretty competitive against England, and not for the red card at the begining of the match, they could have beaten Ireland.

Let's hope their level keep improving.

Our young lads aren't bad at all, as I wrote here in the past. Rizzi is going to play for Treviso next year and I think he'll be Italian number 10 for the future.
It's really heartwarming to see our scrum destroying the welsh even down in 7, impressive, Fischetti, Cannone and Lamaro will have a future and we'll see them as well in Pro14 next year.
Nothing special in attack, but given that weather it's understandable, great defence instead.
Really can't wait Scotland match next week.

Well done young Italians.

They're a good bunch this season, they just need to cut out the mistakes. For example they've messed up about 8 restarts in the last 2 games.

Not really. They were always poor at this level up through the years and never expected to challenge

Just caught the highlights. Does the English 1 kill the ball in the lead up to the only try of the game? Last ruck before try is scored..
