Tri Nations to become The Rugby Championship in 2012

Think that would be the Six Nations. Don't think it is arrogance though, more like a lack of imagination.

You really think so?

My opinion on the name,... It sucks big time. Why would you give our fellow northerners a reason to spite us??.. We get enough as it is and now it's as if theres gonna be a big new competition in naming our tournaments to make the others look lesser....

Poor name choice and I think they should've stuck with something along the lines of Quad Nations... Or Southern Rugby Championship

Logo for me looks simple but tasteful. If anything they are trying to be too corporate, like a financial investment company.

Don't make me dig up historical records between South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and the six participants in the Six Nations.

Actually, I'll do it anyway just out of curiosity.

New Zealand

vs. Wales: 25 wins, 3 losses, 0 draws
vs. Scotland: 26 wins, 0 losses, 2 draws
vs. Italy: 11 wins, 0 losses, 0 draws

Total: 150 wins, 21 losses, 5 draws

Australia

vs. England: 23 wins, 16 losses, 1 draw
vs. France: 23 wins, 16 losses, 2 draws
vs. Ireland: 20 wins, 9 losses, 1 draw
vs. Wales: 20 wins, 10 losses, 1 draw
vs. Scotland: 18 wins, 8 losses, 0 draws
vs. Italy: 14 wins, 0 losses, 0 draws

Total: 118 wins, 59 losses, 5 draws

For good measure, I'll even throw in Argentina:

vs. Ireland: 5 wins, 7 losses, 0 draws
vs. Wales: 4 wins, 9 losses, 0 draws

No... Please don't start the whole NH/SH debate again

Engand have been the best team in the NH!:D...

See what I did there? I changed it from being just NH/SH which is lame to England vs all :p.

But indeed please don't start this whole thing, cause it's all just going to come back to the fact that we England invented the game and so are the best nation, plainly cause we invented this nonsense. :p

But it is indeed a bad choice of name, should've been SH championship or whatever. As not all of Rugby participate but who cares?

Ah, I was just responding to someone having a go by posting numbers, just a habit of mine.

Anyway, I won't start the NH/SH debate, because there isn't one :p

I saw what you did there... *keeping a close eye on this* :p

I'm not sure that it was implied that the Six Nations teams are better than the Tri-Nations teams - they aren't.
However the Six Nations, in my opinion, is far better than the Tri-Nations, as a tournament.
Of course, I'm biased as I'm going to prefer watching my country play - however I just don't feel the excitement over the 3N as the 6N - probably because each team plays each other over and over, all gets a bit stale. Argentina's inclusion will, hopefully, rectify this though.

The statement was about which tournament is better; how can a tournament in which 10 of 16 years it is won by the same nation (New Zealand), compare that with the Six Nations (Five Nations before that) during the same time-line (from 1996) - England 5, France 7, Ireland 1, Wales 2, Scotland 1

It gets boring after a while when the same Nation constantly win; least the Six Nations mixes it up a bit.

It is always fun to tease the SH posters. Just look how Tricia immediately thought that I was saying that southern hemisphere nations are not as good as northern hemisphere nations. Seems they get (the NZer's in particular) if we 'diss how EPIC they are compared to us

With risk of cock swinging, I must say, maybe we have been winning it constantly because we are the best team??

Just look at the World Rankings and who has been on top, only three teams have managed to be placed first since it's inception and for 3/4 of the time New Zealand have happily sat on top. The other two nations being England and South Africa...

Come one England!

Are you really trying to prove that NZ have been the best team? It doesn't need to be proven people denying this are stupid or ignorant.

The only time I can remember NZ not being the best team in the world was in 2002 and 2003 and 2007 and 2009.

I'm not trying to prove anything. Just merely stating a reason as to why we have won it so often. And the fact that I still enjoy the Tri Nations, it doesn't seem as boring and dull as has been stated, not in my opinion anyway. Taking that away from a tournament because one team has won it more frequently than others is a poor judgement call in my eyes.

And you may not believe it but around the 2003 era, England were undoubtably the best team in the World

U bet ya I believe it lol :p. I even said that in my last post?

I enjoy the Trinations 2. And I don't think it's boring because NZ win it, cause this year ze inmates won it and in 09 it was SA.

It's not that much difference to the fact that the six nations champs are presented with the Championship Trophy.

It's called the Six Nations Championship, so of course they're awarded the Championship Trophy
What else would they call it?

Who cares about the name?? yeah it's a bit long and doesn't sound alright, but neither does "The Western Force"...

all I care about is the quality on the field... hell they could even have called it Sidhe Rugby Challenge, just as long as the South African players' names are spelled correctly...
