Transfers rumours

Spoke to a fella about Nacewa and I can say 100% his contract is up in June 2013 and problem is Nacewa doesn't want to leave and Leinster don't want to loose him but rules will be that any foreign player will not be allowed a new contract

True, but the Leinster coffers are in a good state at the moment. We'll pack out the Aviva at least 3 times this season and general attendance has been okay, as well as performing strongly with regards to merchandise. We could offer Luke a fairly substantial contract I'd wager.
True but a provincial contract is close to 130k in difference to IRFU contract.

then how come Ruan Pienaar has signed on until 2014?

I thought there were going to spaces for foreign players just not so many

Yep that's true enough, but it's my understanding that the provinces aren't allowed renew the contracts of any NIQ's currently playing for them. So in theory Leinster would have to get rid of Nacewa but could bring in another foreigner to play in the back three immediately after. Silly.

but Pienaar has renewed his contract!

what a stupid system if true, so confusing

I thought it would just get rid of unneeded average players who are reserves like Berquist, Borlase, Sykes, Danielli not players like Nacewa, Muller etc

Skyes was needed. Well not him, but a strong NIQ second row. I agree with you completely. Even if I've gotten the details of the new deal wrong, as I'm liable to do, it's still a ridiculous situation for the provinces to be in.

Ulster get alot of support and well have private (Tiger Woods wannabe) backing as they don't "generate" same income as Munster or Leinster. Even though both our provinces bust ourselves promoting supporters clubs, club shops selling merchandise and really reaching out to expose ourselves and get bums on seats.
But yeah basically as Feic said (although I think it starts next season) players that are NIQ can't resign.
Eg. Nacewa's contract expies in 2013 and well can't sign an extension as they only allow 1 year extensions and can't be resigned in 2013

I don't actually mind the new NIQ rules apart from this stupid bit where players can't resign. Nacewa is not only a key figure for Leinster but is also clearly heavily involved in player development. Imagine how much young Leinster backs have learned from him and think how they have relied on him when the Irish internationals are away.

Treviso are trying to sign an Australian U20 fly half as their latest attempt to end their run of dreadful fly halves, he's called James Ambrosini, his sister is apparently going out with some AC Milan player

May as well go with someone who could pass as Italian but my guess is it will just ruin his career.

His uncle is Massimo Ambrosini the A.C. Milan midfielder

I heard about Bennett probably leaving, but Paul James I'm sure he was on contract until like 2014 or something

I only got told this today by a reliable source at work. I also knew about Bowe going back to Ulster 3 weeks before it was anounced to the public from the same source so I am inclined to believe it.

Also trying to find out more info about Cai Griffiths going was talk of the Scarlets but with him being out with a broken arm at the moment that may not happen but he got time to heal, could ask him but that be cheeky of me :p

[h=1]James Ambrosini[/h] [h=3]Flyhalf[/h]

Flyhalf James Ambrosini has fond memories of when he first tasted victory against New Zealand at Schoolboys level back in 2008. That achievement will fuel the confidence of a handful of the 2008 squad who come together again in the 2011 U20s, hoping to end the Kiwis astounding three-year unbeaten run at the JWC. James’ uncle plays soccer in Italy and his sister is a dancer at the Moulin Rouge in France. Despite enjoying the French culinary specialty, escargot, James lists his favourite food as a ham and cheese toastie.

Ambrosini is a more 'Italian' name than Burton, Gower, McLean, Robertson, Derbyshire, et al.

I read somewhere (Can't remember where) that Guy Easterby has said that they are going into talks with the IRFU to keep Nacewa and I think they should get him to stay because ,first of all he won't want to go as he seems very happy here and has had three children born in Ireland and he is probably the fan favorite certainly in the top three favorite players among the fans.

They could possibly take the IRFU to the European courts because of prejudice. There was a famous football case wasn't there?

S
eems that Cippers has signed for us :D

It says "is believed to have signed" and Sale haven't announced anything yet, so fingers crossed....

hopefully Diamond won't tolerate any nonsense from him and will be the man to get his career back on track, a down to earth mid table team like Sale are probably better for him at the moment than a team like Toulon or Leicester

I would like to see another "Rebel" follow Cips back to these shores. I always rated Delve, and I think he could be the back up we need in our back row. If only one of the regions would go in for him, I think he could be a major asset. He is only 29, and could be a valuable experienced head for someone.
