Transfers rumours

Think he means Jason Jenkins, a SR we signed from SA when has spent his entire time here injured unfortunately.

With all due respect to RG I don't think we can afford to extend a guy with his injury history. It sucks on a personal level, especially as he never got his shot here, but that's business. Also don't think we need a big name big € guy at SR with the players we have. We have way bigger needs.

Surprised Ryan would be off. Think we simply have to sign a TH if that comes to fruition and a pretty good one.

Would love to keep DDA, but at the same time always expected he would leave after his contract ran out.

@munstermuffin any truth to Fekitoa? If DDA and RG both leave, I think we need to sign at TH and Centre.
Correct meant Jason had wrong name on braon for another topic.

DDA qas offered an extension and said no. That is business and he owes us nothing.

Ryan call is a mixture of finances and well his age. He will be 34 at start of next year and well Knox and Salanoa are seen as lads to step up now over next few months. RG will be staying on a reduced salary is what I hearing in camp here. Cheaper base salary with incentives. 2 year deal potentially.

Fekitoa is a real deal and seems to be Cossie driven wheather that a link to new coaching ticket too.

Zebo also looks like he could be returning to France.

On better news not in news I extened my deal for 4 more years and don't have 6 month release clause.

Yeah I don't hate losing Ryan. Just surprised mostly. Good for him though he might be able to go and get some silverware.

Agreed on De Allende, he did his bit never played below a 7/10 standard and was a dog for us.

Fekitoa deal would be an interesting one. I'm fully in favor I think.

If Zebo goes back to France fair enough I guess, but it will go down as a seriously disappointing return. Don't really think we need him, but I digress.

Congrats on the extension! No move to Bath on the horizon for you just yet!

I wouldn't have the language for Bath.
But Zebo move is mixed with personal reasons if he does go. His partners family are Spanish and near border I think some of them. He could stay too but not vital.

I've heard that Chris Boyd is off from a couple of sources now. No idea who's coming in but really mixed feelings about him leaving.

Losing Fekitoa is the really disappointing one for me. He's a year into a 3 year contract and has been fit for most the season unlike Fekitoa who we knew was off realistically and has had a few knocks.

I suppose it's the challenge of a shrinking cap. Clearly we thought we had some wiggle room but i reckon that something has come up or someone hasn't panned out as expected and therefore changes had to be made.

I suspect that someone has asked for more cash than expected or that someone hasn't panned out... (My view is Scholtz being considered not cutting it and Koch was a chance signing)

If we have to lose Fifita/Fekitoa then it's a real shame but I'd be happy if it means Launchbury, Robson, J Willis, T Willis, Barbeary, Shields, Umaga etc can be secured on longer deals as some of the youngsters have really stepped up and are crucual for us.

I'd also expect we won't be the only ones to lose some surprise names.

I mean most teams have already lost some surprised names
Sarries - Koch
Exeter - Hill, Skinner
Tigers - Ford, Genge
Bath - Watson

and we are only just half way through the season.

Radradra has a year left (though that doesn't mean much these days) but I can't imagine Piutau sticking around,
Imagine he'll go to Japan

Hughes is rumoured off but at the same time Tuisue rumoured to be going in which would be a big loss for Irish

Sounds like Botia to Tigers may well be on. La Rochelle made a offer but according to french media they are expecting him to go

Suppose for clubs like Bristol and Wasps ... if Fekitoa/Fifita/Hughes/Piutau are going away with Tonga/Fiji, will they assume to allocate cash elsewhere?

To have your marquee player and someone in your squad on large cash being away a lot is a nightmare, Koch for us in future but JTA as back up. Assume Fifita/Fekitoa will be replaced with players we know will be around for large parts of the season. Realise that internationals for those are often few and far between but suppose when you lose £1.4m off the budget this can take effect.

Also losing a marquee player going to hurt any team harder since you can't just replace him even for cheaper without taking the hit elsewhere.

Phil Dowson as saints head coach

…….
Seems an odd appointment, especially when even though everyone thought it would be an internal appointment, thought it would be Vesty.

Saints seem to strike me as a team with some cracking players (Biggar, Hutchingson, Ludlham, Francis, Ribbans etc.) and some hugely talented youngsters (Sleightholme, Grayson, Mitchell, Dingwall etc) but are screaming for a top quality DoR to grab it by the scrum of the neck and give it a way of playing and a unity. Maybe Dowson will do that as former captain but time will tell....

TBH i can't think of a top top DoR out there currently whose free.
