Transfers rumours

Defo ********

Most likely. But the guy who runs the account doesn't tend to post **** randomly.

Marler signed a long term contract in 2020 but if it's like all the other covid contracts it will be a option of a 3rd year rather than outright 3rd year which is now the norm for whatever reason idk.

I'm going to do some digging but I had heard we was after a England international assumed tbh it was Hepburn or Moon still do in some way.

I don't see it TBH. He's never wanted to move away from the South Coast and if he was going to leave Quins, why do it now when we're arguably the best we've been in his career?

One thing that I always wondered about the London teams players is how hard is the travel if you live outside the city.

It isn't usually a issue for younger lads or media types but usually the ones with young families tend to try and live in the Home Counties which depending where the training ground is can be quite a trek.

(Isn't Marler relevant just more wondering)

Marler lives way down in East Sussex, must be a good 100 mins to get to Quins everyday. Had very strong family connections in the town and would not want to leave the most beautiful part of the country. Well from where I live anyway

Quins train in Surrey and Twickenham is more or less on the M25 so very much on the edge of London. It's not great but it's not like they're battling to get to Oxford Street.

Very similar for Irish (since their move back to Brentford) and Saracens are pretty much based in Watford so very much stretching the definition of a London team.

Just had a chat, Marler taking a massive pay cut to come to tigers.
Him and Cole are setting up a B&B together called the pork pies, and are going to be making a tv show. Also mentions his love of Leicester cheeses and his family roots in the area.

Also rumour backedup as he was spotted at welford road on the 5th December

Now being reported he'll extend his contract with Saracens.

Honestly he's alright but nothing to be upset about from a Munster pov

I'm fairness have you seen Munster's centre stocks? A Scannell Farrell partnership isn't good enough for the level they want to be at. Even if they get Frawley it's only a slight improvement and his fitness isn't reliable.

did Munster try to sign Dan Kelly or was it just Connacht?

RE Marler it does seem like he's looked around the place.
About it atm anyway.
The way Matson was talking about him pregame, it doesn't sound like he's a player on the way out.

Called him the best player in the prem etc and really positively about his huge role on the team - could be trying to just cement his loyalty tho

I mean the same could've been with Ford and Genge. In fact it was said by tigers

True true, but different scenarios I think, both have had a rockier relationship with the club and haven't been stalwarts for as long as Marler. I don't think anyone thought they'd retire at Tigers.

If there was a reasonable Quins offer on the table (Matson wouldn't have said anything if we were "letting him go") then I can't see Marler taking one elsewhere - whereas Ford and Genge both seemed like they would

Neither had rocky relationships with tigers

Genge I agree was always likely to leave for Bristol sometime.
But honestly I didn't think Ford would move for anywhere else in England tbh.

Though honestly I didn't think Hill would leave Exeter for Sale either.

I don't think Marler will leave but it does show that Tigers are looking for options and seem to be willing to put decent money to it.

Did they not both have issues when it came to the paycuts etc or am I misremembering?
