Transfers rumours

You can almost certainly get a flight from Exeter airport to Glasgow or Edinburgh every day.
Genuinely didn't know Exeter had an airport :p
I presumed you'd have to fly to like London or something, and drive

Well there's also Bristol ;)

Exeter is a bit like East Midlands unless you actually have cause to leave from there you barely acknowledge it's existence.

It's a blow for Glasgow, the SRU and even the Pro14. He's not regained his award winning form post injury but he is a flagship player for Scottish rugby that already lost Finn Russell.
Since there are only two pro teams in Scotland, is it not beneficial to the national team if there are more players getting regular first team rugby due to Stuart Hogg moving? Finn Russell moving to France gave Adam Hastings his opportunity for example.

Jean luc du Preez will join his older brother Rob on a three month loan deal at the sale Sharks while his twin brother will join Exeter Chiefs for the same period.

Jean-luc is our best player, Sale will be very strong during this period. Hope they dont get injured and that Sale doesnt like them too much. Luckily their dad is the head coach of the Sharks so they should show some loyalty in the long term to the project we are building here.

I'm really not convinced that he'd be paid less at Exeter than any other English club. And yes, you can fly Exeter to Edinburgh for less than £100, flights available daily takes about 90 minutes IIRC

I don't understand why.
He's undoubtedly a fantastic player, but we've got depth in the backrow and only one injury there.

Not complaining, but just don't see the logic behind it.

Well yes, but I'm coming from the angle that the SRU will want their clubs to win trophies - losing Hogg & Finn reduces the chances of that.

The Pro14 format allows plenty opportunities for an understudy to get game time. The most likely replacement for Hogg is ageing journeyman Rhuraidh Jackson rather than a young starlet (unless anyone can advise to the contrary?). It also shows that despite improved Pro14 TV revenue and burgeoning coffers, the SRU can't compete financially with a reportedly mid-level budget from a Gallagher side.

My argument will be totally undermined if Hogg is moving for rugby reasons rather than money!

Surely the SRU should look to Sale. The IRFU found two fullbacks there this year!

Yup,
Born in France, I believe, but lived all his life in Manchester, came through all the England age grades, English Mum, and has always wanted to play for England, yet we're apparently poaching him.
Would've thought he'd be local asBryan was with ye long enough

Gareth Davies and Jonathon Davies both to the same prem club after RWC thought to be Saracens, heard from a so-so source but seen as this is the "rumours" thread I stuck it in...

Could conceivably be Bath - though we'd need a clear out to afford both - rumours are fairly strong that JJ is off; and very strong that we're looking at a marquee scrum half.

ETA: mind you, if JJ and Priestland are both off; then that'd free up a LOT of cap
