Maggie was always going to retire at Biarritz from what I've heard, so no shock there.

Agreed we don't need a backrower. We've been short (no pun intended) at 2nd row for as long as I can remember but we never seem to look to rectify it (bar the failed signing of Kruger)

I said this before I am surprised a person like Diamond a former Hooker never seems to put money into his tight 5 and i think it has cost Sale the most TBH when it comes to bigger games.

Can't really imagine Faf or Jantjies leaving the lions, yet again I guess the pound looks good compared to rand and with Ackermann leaving the lions it could start some of the players leaving.

No disrespect to Sale either but really can't see them signing Faf I'd imagine he'd go to a top European club? The top 14 sounds more realistic or even Wasps sounds more realistic

Yup,
He knows how he wants the pack to play but then imposes that on players rather than recruit players that'd suit it.
Hines is the only player I can think of that fit the mould but then he was ancient and retired after a year

Dimes better not be thinking about playing Nott full time at Lock, he is a 6 IMO and should be played there he has a lot of potential.


Yep when you compare the pack whilst Diamond has been in charge to the pack in Sales hey day.

with the likes of
Bruno, Sheridan, Lobbe, White, Chebal, Faure, Schofield, Jones, Day, Lund (In his prime) they where some beast players to have and could compete with most teams. (Bar Munster).

I understand money got tighter and tighter but now it should be rebuilt. I'm just not sure Diamond is going to do that TBH.

Some funny old rumours there. I'd like to see de Klerk and Jantjies in the AP, but I'm not sure how realistic either are - particularly given that the clubs linked are Sale and Worcester. No disrespect intended to either but I would have thought both players would be wanting guaranteed European rugby.

de Jongh to Wasps makes sense. With Beale off and Eastmond a 50/50 at best, they definitely need centres.

Hopper has been the butt of many a joke from me, but he's been a solid if unspectacular servant for Quins, so good luck to him in France. It does mean that we badly need reinforcements in the centre though. Lowe and Sloan are very good players, but given the amount of time they've been out, I'd be reluctant to rely on either. Roberts is just there for the cash and the odd run-out and Stanley is sub-standard, so that leaves Marchant as the one stand-out centre we have. I'd like to see us go in for someone like Sam Hill.

Faf is definitely better then both of them, Simpson is rumoured to be off anyway due to lack of game time, I said "more" too, not saying it'd happen but I could see that more then Sale but fair enough if Sale manage to get him, on a side note would like to see Thacker in a Sale shirt or I'd like to see Neild in the hooker shirt

Thacker signed a new contract a week or so ago.

Aslong as a hooker has good/big props then he'll be fine but a flanker needs size to do the traditional role of a flanker, the argument against it is Pocock isn't big however Pocock is 115kg and 6ft but Thacker is 92kg and 5.6ft, huge difference, just think Thacker is far too small for a flanker and would be battered, better of staying at hooker as a small dumper truck

Really like Thacker I think he is excellent both in the backrow and at hooker. In the front row he plays very similar to Taylor IMO and at times his mobility means it's as though there is another backrow on the field.

I can't imagine anyone saying that Kvesic is not big enough to be a flanker. Seems like an absurd thing to say.

Hookers are nothing like a 3rd prop? If anything they're like a 3rd flanker more then anything, and Thacker is closer to a 3rd flanker then prop because be is a flanker!

In open play, they are fourth loose forward.

He can clearly play both and isn't close to a 3rd prop, also how close is the tiggers lover boy Tom Youngs to a third prop?
