Transfers rumours

Shameful of players to do this. Gatland had no issue stripping Jones of the captaincy after a last minute penalty to cause a draw v Fiji, but didn't bat an eyelid after Sam cost us the best chance of a RWC we will have. Performance doesn't matter for favourites, and now he is undermining the efforts of some form of regional rights.

Who are the other Wales internationals the WRU are trying to sign? It'll be interesting to see if the players sign with their regions (a la AWJ), with the WRU (like Warburton) or get out of the whole mess and sign with a foreign team (like Adam Jones and Leigh Halfpenny).

Will Cardiff Blues take a stand and not pick Warburton out of spite? Will the WRU take the money from the Warburton contract out of the Blues funds out of spite? Will the WRU try to buy out AWJs contract (among others) and free up the savings to the regions to sign better players as an act of good faith? There are lots of unanswered questions from this deal.

Adam, Priestland and Scott Williams are the remaining players left from those out of contract. All have the same 3 way option, Saracens, Wasps and Wasps appear to be their options aside Wales respectively I think.

Will Cardiff Blues take a stand and not pick Warburton out of spite? Hopefully. Will the WRU take the money from the Warburton contract out of the Blues funds out of spite? Almost certainly. Will the WRU try to buy out AWJs contract (among others) and free up the savings to the regions to sign better players as an act of good faith? No.

snoopy snoopy dog, I'm not sure you're fully understanding this mess. The RRW and Roger Lewis absolutely despise each other and playing media mind games with the public and are at each other's throats, it's a full on battle and there will be "no acts of good faith". Listen to this by Eykyn and Moore that sums it up well.

Is that confirmed? I don't have all details

Not confirmed, but very likely. Word coming out is that Warburton only had 2 offers, one from Cardiff and one from the WRU. So much for the WRU "keeping players in Wales" argument, they are trying to compete and outbid the regions for players and wasting money as a result, likely money out of the regions funding. It's all part of Roger's plan to bring the regions under his control, and he found a suitable yes man to give him the big headline play he was looking for.

It's pretty clear that there's a massive amount of distrust on both sides and it has filtered through to fans here, on other forums, on twitter and elsewhere. Your "not confirmed, but very likely" comment below when asked about whether the regions funding will be cut as a result of central contracting is evidence of this. I'm not saying you're wrong but as a supporter of the regions stance, you're naturally taking a dim view of the WRUs intentions. It's a shame that the actions of both the WRU and RRW have lead to this mutual distrust.

The media posturing on both sides is disgraceful and until everyone puts their ego aside, listens to the other side and realizes that all parties have genuine concerns and can make positive contributions to Welsh rugby, they'll keep going around in circles. I think central contracting could be a positive step once the regions are properly funded on top of this. If their funding is cut to pay for the WRU contracting the likes of Sam Warburton, the WRU should be held to task.

On the Alastair Eykyn/Brian Moore snippet, I'm not sure much can be read into it. If the WRU are to central contract players they have to start somewhere. The harassment of AWJ isn't on (if it's true) but it's clear that they tried to contract him. Central contracting will be done piece by piece as players come off contract with their current clubs. It's what the IRFU did on bringing the top Irish players back from England (primarily) circa 1999-2000. It may be a case that Sam Warburton is the only one this season but next year they will look to add the key Welsh internationals off contract too and the same will hold from then on.

It is an all out battle snoopy. Don't buy the "best for Welsh rugby" media spun line, the sides are fighting for their own sides, it's beyond the stage of trying to help each other. The WRU are trying to get control of the regions and are actively hurting them in trying to achieve this, the RRW would now actively go against Club Wales as well and have said "there is no appetite to work with Roger Lewis". Warburton won't play for the Blues until this is sorted.

Bear in mind that Roger Lewis has made a lot of wacky statements/ideas in this mess, his awful new regions in North Wales and Pontypridd plan (which he refused to talk about on Scrum V), and the PWC report into the running of Welsh rugby said that the WRU could not afford central contracts and the regions needed the private investment to survive. Roger Lewis the individual is at the heart of this problem, the best thing for finding a solution would be for him to be removed. When the Irish were centrally contracting players they didn't compete with their own provinces for them, and no team runs a system that signs just 1 or 2.

Anyone know anything about the Burns move? It's been thought of as a fairly done deal he's going to Tigers but are they really going to sign a player in such a deep, game ruining vein of form.

(If you hadn't heard, Burns didn't do so well for the Saxons tonight)

If he hasn't already signed for them then his agent needs to be fired.
At this point it's entirely possible that Cockerill will offer a lower wage - assuming he hasn't already put pen to paper.

Gloucester have already announced his departure to an unspecified club. Either that means Glos got fed up by the whole saga and told him they're out whatever happens, or that Burns already signed the contract with Tigers. Rumour is three years. Big investment in Burns there.

Leicester never put any of their signings on their site until the summer even when they're common knowledge, seen this before with Benjamin, Bowden and others. The Leicester Mercury saying a deal is done is as good confirmed in regards to Leicester.

I was wondering why it's not been announced as well (same with Flood to...wherever - he's said he's off, but not where) - part of me is now thinking maybe Tigers have said to Burns they'll sign him, but are delaying while they try to sign Priestland, and Burns is their plan B.

Rugbypaper seem to think that Sarries are going after a young England player.

Will be interested to see who it is.

I assumed they were going after someone else because Yarde to Quins has been going about for a while now.
Maybe not though!

Rugby Paper saying Miller has signed for Wasps and Gloucester are after Cipriani.
Both have a year left on their contracts, so I'm hoping it all BS, but both of them are pretty flush with cash from their sugar daddies atm, so who knows.

:(

Miller to Wasps might mean Elliot Daly to OC though... swings and roundabouts Olyy!

Are you a subscriber? Wouldn't mind posting the rest of their rumours would you?

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Daly move to 13 fulltime, but noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
They took Tommy Bell off of us and never used him - can't they just convert him to a fulltime fullback instead? He looked very very good there on loan at Leeds.

Nah, just saw it on the Sale fans forum this morning.
