Transfers rumours

Adam Jones to Gloucester may not be a bad shout, as bizarre as it seems now.
They need a scrummaging prop, and he's the best in the business.
I'm sure I've seen in an interview where he said he would consider a move abroad, as he wants to maximise earnings before he retires (or something to that effect) but have also seen him say, more recently, that no French clubs are interested in him.
If Gloucester can offer more money than Ospreys (and they will be able to with Walkinshaw's cheque book, and the "marquee player" signing being outside the cap) then Gloucester is only a couple of hours from Swansea...

The Rugby paper reports that wasps are looking at bringing in Rhys Priestland and Richard Hibbard, both of whom are out of contract as of next season.

To be fair, both are also linked to Glocuester and if Burns is off to Leicester then I think it's extremely likely that Priestland will go to Gloucester instead and be the clear first choice.

Dai/Stephen Jones/fact that we're doing alright is the possible pull we have.
Gloucester have Nigel Davies/Being just accross the Severn/definitely appear to have the money to make it happen.

EDIT: AS pointed out by somebody on the wasps boards, Wales Online refers to Gloucester as 'English Giants' :p

LOL

Also, shame we're not being linked to Adam, though that's no doubt cos of how well Cooper-Woolley has done at wasps. Before him, we were linked to each and every vaguely available tight-head prop out there - I remember the rumour that we were getting Taumalolo - that was just one great big fabrication by somebody somewhere.

Ah, yes. The Daily Mail. That reliable institution.

Cory Jane to Montpellier but this could be Midol hype or Montpellier pulling off an almighty coup, patience.

Can't imagine Jane going to France yet. He's walked back into the All Black set up after a really nasty injury and despite some great perfomances from other wingers while he was gone. He's still fairly young too and will almost certainly make the 2015 squad. I don't see him walking away from something like that.

Away with you now and your devil words.

You'll be happy to hear there's been a lot of cold water poured on that one now.

I'm now led to expect Ulster's three foreigners to be a LHP, a lock... and a blindside. Rumours that the lock is settled and is very like for like with Muller i.e. probable next captain.

Yeah I heard, for rugby reasons it would make sense but for personal reason's not so much.

Now rumours of:

Dominic Ryan --> Ulster
Anthony Allen --> Leinster

Wouldn't mind either of those TBH. Ryan to Ulster seems like a good move for him get some game time as he's not getting any game time and he might get more there. Allen is a good player but he's not the youngest and D'Arcy seems to be having a bit of a resurgence not sure it would be as well worth it, then again D'Arcy could be in the Irish squad a lot interesting one anyway.

Imagine or not it could well happen, exactly what happened to Rene Ranger, he was in the All Blacks squad walked away and where is he now Montpellier!!!! Why would Montpellier want an old injured All Black winger when they can have a young one, the old and injured go to Toulon for 2 years, we are a young balanced squad and Cory Jane could fit into the team well. So unless you are priviledged to something i do not know please enlighten us the reasons why he could not be wearing a Cyst shirt next season.!!!!!!!!!!!

Calm down, far too many exclamation marks in that.

Rene Ranger is a completely different case. He signed for Montpellier before he broke into the All Black squad during the June series against France. He'd been on the fringes of the squad for a while but hadn't made it. He had an incredible last season with the Blues and broke into the squad and then tried to get out of his deal with Montpellier. Most of the rugby media at the time framed it as Ranger thinking his chance for an international cap had gone so looking to get some money and have a good time in France for a few years. Once it became clear that he did have a future with the All Blacks he tried to get a release but as far as i'm aware the NZRU weren't prepared to pay what Montpellier were asking.

Cory Jane is, obviously, a very well established All Black who has shown no indication of wanting to leave New Zealand any time soon. After the next World Cup perhaps but I'd be very sceptical about him walking away from the international side right now.

Racing Metro, Castres and Exeter chasing Leinster tighthead Martin Moore. Moore is supposed to have been offered €100,000 more than what Leinster have offered him.

I don't think he'll go but it would be a bad sign if Leinster were outbid by Exeter.

Really really hope he stays as he'll be first choice within two years and would be very worrying if we can't keep our young players.

Agree, especially on say a two year contract. He could help bring Prydie and Amos along. I would rather us focus on getting a prop though.

Ulster were targeting him when they ended up with Jared Payne. Things got pretty far advanced from what I heard. He's 30 now, if he waits for the World Cup he'll be 32, not too many decent pension toppers at that age.

It's very funny you know all this, as i interviewed him the other day and he said nothing about that, there were other interviews with other media where he stataed that he was always coming to France and the change of mind was only media hype, origins from SH. He also added in one interview that he was doing the best for his family and that was to come to Montpellier never has anything other been on his mind, the only question was his actual arrival which caused one or two questions!!!!!!!!!! Second guessing is good when everybody believes you, but when some one else is closer to the real truth its good to take his words as true.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just for the record calmer than me exists not, the exclamations marks i just love!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know, Habana has just gone to Toulon at thirty. Ian Balshaw is still playing at Biaritz at thirty four. I think if he did wait until after the next World Cup his age isn't going to put clubs off providing he is still in form. There is always Japan as well.

Well thats great and all but I haven't claimed to 'know' anything, this thread is for transfer rumours so most stuff that gets said here is some form of speculation. I was simply repeating what was reported as fact throughout the rugby press during the latter stages of the last Super Rugby season. Ranger is reported to have tried to stay in New Zealand but apparently the cost of that would have been around $300,000 NZ. That what was reported in the media and as I'm not inside his head I have no better source of information. I only ever brought his move to Montpellier up because you suggested he and Cory Jane are very similar cases, which I don't agree with. If you have interviewed Rene Ranger recently and he told you that, fine, but I'll wait until I see it somewhere in print. Even if the media was wrong and he never tried to back out of his contract with Montpellier he is still a completely different case from Jane, who has nearly fifty test caps and is fairly certain of a spot in the next RWC squad.

I think you might think I'm sceptical about Jane moving to France because I don't like Montpellier. Thats not the case, I actually really like the place. I just don't see it as the most plausible of moves for him right now. I'm not suggesting I know better than everyone else, thats just my opinion.
