Transfers rumours

I hope he goes tbh he wasted about 10 minutes of the game against worcester to take his silly little kicks the premiership would be better without him

Lee Rees (Llandovery RFC) ---> Dragons

I haven't seen much of him, but some seemed to think he was a good prospect.
Wing isn't really a position we need to worry about. We have Harries, Prydie, Chavhanga, Poole, Pewtner, and Hughes can cover there.

I saw him play against Georgia A this year and he was tearing the Georgian defence apart every time he had the ball.

Unfortunately he has had very little opportunity for the Scarlets, but this season has clearly done very well for Llandovery in the Principality Premiership this year (4 tries in 6 matches) and is a standout at that level, so he deserves a chance to step up in level.

But as you say, the Dragons don't really need a winger that much so it an odd signing. With Prydie, Harries, Chavhanga and Evans they have an all international back three and none of those are that likely to be playing much for Wales this season. Rees is very much similar to the style of Will Harries, short, speedy and jinky, no surprise he has a Sevens background.

(Faster than George North btw)

Actually the team that could have do with this signing more than the Dragons is the Ospreys, as they are very thin in regards to wingers after losing so many after last season and not signing any. I believe Lee Rees would be an improvement on Tom Isaacs, who isn't that great tbh.

Yeah, the Ospreys need some wings. Well, in theory they do...
Luke Morgan is thought of pretty highly by Ravens fans. Same size and shape to Harry Robinson, by the looks of it.

Turks, Blues, and us all have a good first choice back three:
Stoddart/North/Williams; Prydie/Harries/Evans; Robinson/Cuthbert/Halfpenny.
Ospreys really are lacking.

That would be a good signing for them, he suits their style. He'd certainly be a better option than O'Connor anyway .

There aren't any foreign 10's in Ireland either apart from Connacht, and perhaps they could even sign him as a project player.

He could stunt the progress of Jackson though, but on the other hand he needs quality competition to grow as a player.

Not interested. Between Jackson and Olding, we have zero need for another talented youngster in the 10 shirt, particularly one who'll take up a precious NIQ slot.

Also, I've seen more than one person who might have an inkling say flat out that Ulster will not be allowed to sign an NIQ 10 at the moment. Don't know if it's actually true, but wouldn't surprise me at all.

Racing want to roll out the chequebook for Lydiate and Roberts.
The Blues want the WRU to assist with Roberts, and put him on a dual contract. One step closer to central contracts.

Lydiate and Faletau should both move from the Dragons to play Heineken Cup rugby imo.

If they leave the Dragons, it should be abroad. They will gain nothing by leaving us to lose in the Heineken Cup with Ospreys/Blues/Scarlets.

I'd like to see Roberts, Lydiate and Faletau all move, even Cuthbert in a few years.
They will never improve as players by staying at the Dragons and Blues.

And the Dragons and Blues will be unable to improve without their star players. I know that all three mentioned would look better at club level if they played for better teams, but I don't necessarily think it is holding them back as players. The fact that Lydiate plays for the Dragons hasn't stopped him becoming one of the best blindsides in the world at present.

I do think that we need to keep as many of our star players playing their trade within Wales, otherwise there is little hope of the regions improving to a standard where they will be genuine contenders ever year for the HC, and someday win the thing.

Whilst the problems at the regions doesn't appear to be having a huge effect on the fortunes of the national team, I do think that if the regions were also strong at the moment the national team would be at least slightly better, and that can be the difference between winning and losing (maybe v France in the WC or the tests in the summer v Aus). At the moment Gatland is having to work the players extremely hard pre-tournament in order to get them back up to peak physical condition. There is no reason at all why the players shouldn't be keeping the same levels of fitness and strength at the regions, reducing the need for these torture sessions in Poland.

Anyway, I'm going off topic here, but basically strong regions will help the national cause, and retaining our best players is part of that, as is a more professional attitude of the regions.

Racing have reportedly contacted Martin Castrogiovanni and Dan Carter as well.

Castrogiovanni is second-best tighthead for Leicester, would be a good move for him. Lo Cicero is getting really far up there, might want a loosehead replacement soon.
Lorenzetti bankrolls Racing, right? If only he had an affinity for Gwent rugby.

Racing are an odd team, they put some good performances on and then go in the tank. Lydiate would start anywhere, and would be the type of player to build your team around.

Racing rotate a lot, and have a style of play that makes their players not to shine, especially loosies. I'm not sure it'd be the best place for Lydiate, and definitely it wouldn't be good for Faletau.
For Castro it may be a good move. They usually change their entire front five around the 50th minute, so they are always in look for depth in that area. However, props often have trouble adapting, so at Castro's age it may be a bit risky to take a decision that would take a season or more to pay off sportively.
I'm not even commenting on Carter, as it is surely not going to happen. And Roberts can fit anywhere.
