Transfers 2015/16

Then they're stark raving lunatics.

Well it's the way they operate. When we did up Thomond Park Leinster took a hit financially. It's the way the union operate. It was interesting that if you remember when Leinster played Leicester in Aviva in a HEC QF. Leicester got more money from the game than Leinster.

What has that got to do with thinking Humph's time was a failure, or the insanity of a fixed one size fits all policy?

I've no objection to the IRFU centralising things - it's them being insane I object to.

No your missing the point. Humph was a success. The role was a failure as it contradicted what IRFU wanted. They do want a 1 size fits all type so that it is easy for transition to national team.
I should clarify Humphs was very good at his job and had huge success. But as I said if you take transfers alone. A Humphs role at provincial level would clash with Nucifora role at national level.

I still fail to see what this has to do with my point, or how it clears the IRFU of the charge of being sheer blithering lunatics. I get that you say they want a one size fits all policy. I think that's bonkers.

Also, if you never have anyone filling a non-coaching Director of Rugby role again, how are the IRFU ever going to replace Nucifora without going outside Ireland?

Well I think the Nucifora role is suited to someone proven as a team manager. But look I agree 100% with you but well when they pay the wages I suppose it's their call.

Munster need a DoR now in the same way Ulster did (and to an extent still do now).

Their structures are a shambles. Academy hopeless and squad has holes all over the place. Ulster's academy is hopeless, but the squad, while thin, has only 1 weak area really (backrow).

Leinster have a working academy, their structures are by and by large working, so don't need the same guidance top-to-bottom as Munster/Ulster.

Connacht are doing things their own way, but in Nigel Carolan have a real gem of an asset. Their ongoing improvement also means their structures are working fine.

In relation to the academy. We will always be behind due to simple numbers. The schools game in Ulster and Leinster is much bigger.
While I don't disagree about a DoR its more Munster have to go through the hoops to get there.

Kieran Treadwell to Ulster on a 2 year deal.

In Iain Henderson, Alan O'Connor and Kieran Treadwll, Ulster have an excellent stable of young locks.

Sounds like a good signing by Ulster. Leinster tried to sign him a few years ago but he wanted to stay in England. Its a wise move from Treadwell because England have more second rows than any country. Its one area thats easiest to identify if you're a scout! If he is decent he'll have a good chance of playing for Ireland because we're struggling for locks at the moment. Having said that, the future looks good with Henderson, Ross Molony, John Madigan and a few others.

Pretty happy with that, though it's sad as it marks the end for Phil Swainston you feel who looked promising a few years ago (albeit under old rules).
Cittadini just like the other Italians in our team seems to get his kicks from conceding penalties so maybe this will force him to refocus in order to keep his place.
Hope Cooper-Woolley can fight for that starting spot.

Moore has a terrible injury record though. It may be good for both to have a 2 year break.

****, the lack of foresight in trying to keep our players is worrying. Losing Moore and Mads with Ross' and potentially Sexton's days remaining in rugby being limited has left us very light in those positions. Furlong is fine but after that we've got little, it would be great if Ross Byrne had a breakout season next year as we really need it.
