Transfers 2014/15

Meh... as long as they weren't ungrateful in person, do you really give a **** what the statement confirming their departure said?

In reality all it is, is a junior club official typing some trite "kthanxbye" off the top of his head.

Well yeah there is that. There was just a vibe about it that I didn't like. It would have taken about thirty seconds to give thanks to the various levels of service the guys had given. Instead there was an impression amongst quite a few fans that the club didn't give a monkeys about them now they were going.

Also, unless we are planning on signing a new centre not resigning Molenaar was very dumb. But hey ho.

Downeys deal to Pau fell through after he failed medical. I'm sure he'll be cover but capable of doing job

I don't know why we didn't hold on to Downey. We really don't have the depth to throw centres away. He was actually quite good toward the tail end of the season when we let him run straight lines.

Any details on why?

His wrist and issues with a nerve in lower back. The French medicals are a lot tighter than here or UK for insurance.

@Groundhog we took cheaper option for the year (albeit Smith isn't like for like) but we have depth at 13 and will be ok. Also Downey isn't as reliable now due to injuries. He was used very sparingly in last 3 months and yes played excellent vs Glasgow but was average at best all season

Dean Schofield ---> London Welsh

Decent signing from Welsh. No doubt Schoey is getting on a bit (I was surprised when he went to Wuss, thought he'd be retiring!), but a lot of experience and the right amount of "dog" you want from a big 2nd row in a promoted side that other teams will look to bully.

Often is with the newly promoted: old or journeymen or both.

Yup. I guess their first round of signings were a load of 'who the hell?' types.

Has there been any word on what guys who signed with Bristol prior to the end of the season are doing?

Not much from what I know other than Ryan Jones committing.

Pretty sure the two Leinster guys Jack O'Connell and Darron Hudson are both still going. They should do quite well at Championship level. If Hudson ends up starting for Bristol I'd back him to be the top try scorer, has a real nose for the line.

Real Nose is right

Don't be surprised to see Jack O'Connell at a big English club in next 2/3 years.

Laurie Fisher --> Gloucester

Basically confirmed by the Brumbies, who confirm he is leaving.

Adriaan Strauss Cheetahs -> Bulls
Has our captain finally arrived?
