Transfers 2014/15

Yeah I'm sad to see SMS go, I would have liked to see him in Canadian colours one last time, I always thought he was a little unceremoniously dumped after the 2010 debacle in Tblisi which wasn't really his fault at all. I had wondered whether he might stick around till the end of one more year to try his chances for 2015 RWC, but with the return of O'Toole he would have been quite far down the depth chart. Congrats to him for a solid professional career, and I always thought he held his own for the national side even if he wasnt standout spectacular.

The reason he got knocked down the depth chart is because he was never a flashy player like O'Toole but he was a hard worker who put in the work around the breakdown and made the hard yards, these are qualities that we desperately need now.

I think he got unfairly tied to some disastrous Canadian performances in 2008(and afterword) by Crowley as well. I always felt like there migh be more to the SMS story, like some sort of personality conflict or something, it was odd he wasn't called back for games where we had ongoing injury crisis.

No kidding, I would like to know the inside scoop behind the whole situation. I have a feeling he got in a fight with some of the teammates or maybe he was part of that crew along with Matt Guinness King, etc... that called out Rugby Canada's senior leadership just before then. In any case, he has succeeded where many others have failed, i.e. holding down a professional contract for the past 8 years in European Rugby, first with Beziers in France and then with Plymouth for these last six seasons. Makes me think maybe we should of had another look at him?

Please can you edit the Edinburgh entry for Moray Low leaving Edinburgh?

Benjamin Noirot (34 years of age) back to Biarritz for next season with an option depending on Top 14 status being achieved...so that will be just the one season then!!

Dave Ryan from Zebre to Ulster

He's not a front line signing and I suppose he's taking the place of both Adam Macklin and Bronson Ross in the squad. Best of luck to him but I doubt he'll see much playing time.

Doing physio for Munster at times I can safely say he was more times with me than a rugby ball. He has a poor record with injuries and will only be cover for the cover at international windows and help wit Ravens

That's a shame all right, he's could be a fantastic player.

We have back rows coming out of our arse at the moment, I'm afraid that it's inevitable we lose a few.

Conor Gilsenan to L.I., he's a great signing, I'm devestated we're losing him. I really hope Irish can get the best out of him he has so much potential. If he stays fit and maybe puts on a few kgs he'll be excellent for them.

This blog has charted his progress among others.

Interesting signing for London Irish. I think with leavy and Van Der Flier coming through Leinster could afford to offload him.
