[/FONT]Ballymena Academy hosted St Mary's College in an exciting game which the Dublin school won by 27-19. The St Mary's College team started strongly and went into an early 8-0 lead with a penalty and an unconverted try. The home team rallied and their winger, Jonny Rosborough, powered through a gap in the St. Mary's defence to score below the posts. Marcus Rea added the conversion and repeated his accuracy five minutes later following a try from Connor White to give his a 14-8 lead at the break.
The second half was dominated by the Leinster team and they were gifted two quick tries through poor defensive decision-making by the local team. A decisive third try was added with ten minutes to go and the conversion stretched the lead to 27-14. Ballymena reduced the deficit to 27-19 with a late consolation score when Jonny McKeown finished with an unconverted try in the corner.

Oh ****.

hows Mr Beirne, Mr Cornett doing?

Shaun and Jamie are in great form. Jamie in particular. He's a fruit.

Isn't that a sight for sore eyes.

John Afoa off to England next year.

**rumour**, and I stress **rumour** has it he might be pitching up at Gloucester. Which is not nearly as painful as him leaving us for the Sorries.

Seen a article today saying he is going to Gloucester along with Richard hibbard and Rhys priestland is going to wasps supposedly

Darren Cave - Not a Happy Camper

Well, this should be interesting...

I understand his frustration, he should have been given more opportunities when BOD was injured in 2012 over Earls. I really don't like this as an article though it comes across as petty and while its ok for him to vent probably shouldn't be doing to a jorno because as I said it comes across as petty.

We berate sportsment for not expressing an opinion yet when somebody likeDarren Cave does, he's berated too!

I've no issue with him getting things off his chest. I do feel that what he says is misplaced. Whatever about one coach having a vendetta against him, why is it that none of Eddie O'Sullivan, Declan Kidney or Joe Schmidt picked him? Why is it that Mark Anscombe seems to want to move Jared Payne ahead of him at 13 for Ulster? Perhaps he has an inflated opinion of his own ability.

Now I rate Darren Cave and think he has been unlucky not to have won more caps but he doesn't help himself in this article. How will, say, Jamie Heaslip react to him after Cave has publicly questioned him in respect to the quality of Roger Wilson? Were O'Sullivan, Kidney, Schmidt, Ian McGeechan and Warren Gatland all biased against Roger Wilson too?

Yea I don't like what he said about Heaslip because truth is he's much better. However I do think he's saying there should be some rotation in the squad, because some players really don't get any opportunities and to be honest Wilson would be right up there for back up.

I do think it is hard to look past Caves recent form though because some of his plays have been excellent.

First off, what I've heard is that any decision to put Payne ahead of Cave at 13 has more of Dublin than Belfast about it. True? Don't know, but they're semi-reliable sources at the very least, and I hope they're right as Cave 13/Payne 15 is so clearly the best use of our resources its not funny.

My take is that Cave is happy saying this as he doesn't believe he has an international career to damage and that he is saying nothing his mates in the Ravenhill dressing room would disagree with. They've probably said it as much to him as he has to them. I believe that Cave is espousing a majority belief that Ulster boys are not getting a fair crack of the whip - and I don't think he's blaming the coaches here.

Best case scenario is that there has been a mass outbreak of delusional paranoia about the Irish national team in Belfast. Worst case scenario is that has been a mass outbreak of well-deserved skepticism and anger. This might all seem rather conspiracy theorist-esque, but I lost count of the number of well informed guys from all provinces stating that Kidney was not master of his own selection. I am also happy to believe people who've come to the same conclusions as me, but based on listening to people rather than logic, who have a track record for not lying on this sorta subject.

Finally - Heaslip - Cave probably shouldn't have mentioned him, but if he is well and truly head and shoulders the best Irish 8 - ahead of Coughlan, Wilson, moving O'Brien there, Leamy and Henry back in the day... then he has been the single most disappointing, out of form player in a green jersey for the last 3 years solid. Possibly in any international jersey. Most players who manage three years of nigh consistent under-performance are dropped at some juncture. I say that as a fan of what he can do and someone who believes he's been hard done by through given role - but then, most players don't get three years despite their strong points being covered elsewhere.

Although possibly he meant that Heaslip isn't so much better than Wilson that one guy would have only 1 cap to the other man's 60 plus Lions tours... not when you consider the hole left by Heaslip in the last Lions tour. I've lost count of how many times I've heard about the blazer telling Wilson he'd never be capped again after he got sent off playing for Ireland. Considering that Wilson went on one more Churchill Cup tour and thats it, and that Neil fecking Best got two Churchill Cup tours from Northampton while Wilson got none... Yup, I won't be dismissing the idea that a player's face mightn't fit just yet.

"The interviewed veered to another player once so instrumental in so many Ulster and Ireland performances in modern times. Stephen Ferris is on a short-term contract as he endeavours to recover from a long standing ankle problem.

"He's not close yet. I've just speaking to him, he was training hard in the gym and is progressing, feeling confident about his progress, which is positive but we are not talking the next couple of weeks. That's for sure."

Hope to get him back on the pitch at some stage? "Most definitely. High hopes." "
