More clickbait nonsence from the BBC these days.

Has anyone ever seen anyone genuinely suggest James Bond shouldn't be female?

I know two people that will be along soon.

But yeah, mostly on twitter and the like. Same wankers that complained about a female Doctor Who, or the possibility of Idris Elba being the next Bond.

Sorry my mistake corrected "shouldn't be male" was the point I was making.

Female Doctor Who always made sense
Etnicity of Bond doesn't matter
Equally 007 is a title not a character.

But yeah James Bond being a male is part of who he is and I don't think I've ever seen anyone actually advocate him being female.

Yeah Barbara Broccoli was saying the same early 20's. She had no issue with someone doing a project similar to Bond but as a female lead, but Bond is a male.

Some people had a culture war hissy fit at Lashna Lynch being a black double 0 in No Time To Die. My only issue was the film was not particularly great.

As for Idris Elba he's too old now.

Yeah Idris' chance has gone. If going PoC it'll be some like Regé-Jean Page now. Even then he might be a tad too old now.

Damson Idris could be good,
Only seen him in Snowfall but he was v.v. good in that
Ah the guy from F1 my opinion was he wasnt really able to lift a terrible script. But that could be issues with the film editing itself.

There were certainly times where I felt he'd only seen his lines 5 mins before he had to say them.

Dev Patel is still only 35...I dont think he'd be interested

I've really come around to the idea of Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Bond now, but I guess it depends which direction Amazon takes it in. Younger? Older? Origin story? Gritty? Humorous?
They're just fancast rumours but really hope Tom Holland is nowhere near it
The rumours that Bezos is forcing them to have his Wife involved doesn't bode well, though

The thing i'm more interested in is if they expand it into a "Bond Universe" - a "Q" show could be really good

What ever happened to Henry Cavill? He would’ve been ideal. Very good looking, ripped (so it’s actually believable he could beat up 10 guys) and posh.

I could see him playing a Pierce Brosnan-esque Bond, where it doesn't take itself too seriously

But yeah, they won't go for him and I'm not sure he'd take it - especially as he's now heavily involved in Amazon's WH40k media which is essentially a dream come true for him

Bond is supposed to be a mean F’er. Cavill comes across a too nice IMO. It was part of why Brosnan got axed and they turned to Craig as part of the whole change of direction. I have no idea who will be the next Bond but he has to be younger and have that mean streak to him.

I thought Craig was a poor Bond tbh, comfortably one of my least favourites (probably least favourite)

Don't get me wrong, his films were good films but not good Bond films. Not read any of the books though, so it's just my feelings having grown up loving the movies.

I remember reading something, can't remember if it was with Craig or one of the Directors of the newer films, saying that the Austin Powers trilogy had made it so they felt they had to go mega gritty because anything lighter just felt too Austin Powersy

Cavil nice? Lacked charisma as Superman forgetting to smile (I blame Snyder). Also unsure if as Geralt of Rivia he couldn't even said unable to portray ******* whom all women want to ****.

My issue mainly come down to how ripped he is. Will say its surpsing how much people can bulk down Chris Evans in Materialists was noticeable that hes no longer having to maintain Marvel bulk.

I think it was Goldeneye and Casino Royale director Martin Campbell although goggling tell me it was Craig.

During the pandemic I watched every Bond film Casino Royale is the best by some distance. The issue is its too good the chemistry between Craig and Green is palpable and you simply dont belive any other relationship since.

Craig films mainly suffer post that of MGM going under and the mess that caused.

With a lot of movie topics theres usually a Patrick Willems video that explains my views. (I watch them with my wife and we regularly pause to discuss something on the topic, when we resume Patrick regularly makes the exact same point I have)
