Great news.

EO'M is clearly really talented but when he first got back from injury he seemed to have lost the step that really made him. However he does seem to be getting there.

Hope Leinster don't waste a NIQ spot on Beale. He'll want to play 10 and with Jimmy signed and Madigan good enough to be a starter it'd be a waste and a gamble as he is loose cannon at best of times but also prone to injury

Personally I'd place my bets on Macken ahead of O'Malley - or Tom Daly, if we're talking long term.

It all depends on EOM too. He does get fair share of injuries and the talent coming through at Leinster means that if you out for few weeks you really do fall down ranks. Also if Luke Fitz wants to play 13 that will be interesting too

Thats brilliant, just liked it. Not sure the horses would be too pleased though.

Leo Cullen has signed a new contract. BO'D's the only one not sorted.

I hope McFadden gets a long run in the 12 jersey next year. It's time to see if he will be the successor to D'arcy and how he works in partnership with Madigan.

I remember watching McFadden and O'Malley tear up the Clermont defence in the State Marcel Michelin and thinking that McFadden would be fighting with D'Arcy for the 12 spot in a year or two but he's hardly got to play centre since. I think if he does get a long period of time at 12 we'd &ave an intriguing battle for 12 in Ireland as well.

When he played 11?

12 will be interesting when D'arcy goes. Fitzgerald, McFadden, Coughlan, Reid, Macken, O'Malley and possibly Brewer fighting it out. Though none of them are exclusive 12's.

Na it was 2011 Darce and BOD were injured.

When he played 11?

Leinster: 15 Isa Nacewa, 14 Shane Horgan, 13 Eoin O'Malley, 12 Gordon D'Arcy, 11 Fergus McFadden, 10 Johnny Sexton, 9 Isaac Boss, 8 Jamie Heaslip, 7 Shane Jennings, 6 Sean O'Brien, 5 Nathan Hines, 4 Leo Cullen, 3 Mike Ross, 2 Richardt Strauss, 1 Heinke Van Der Merwe.
Replacements:16 Jason Harris-Wright, 17 Cian Healy, 18 Clint Newland, 19 Devin Toner, 20 Dominic Ryan, 21 Eoin Reddan, 22 Shaun Berne, 23 Dave Kearney.

Evidently D'arcy was also fit.

Yeah just checked that out you were right. I always thought he played 12 that day, did D'Arcy go off early maybe? I might have been thinking of a different game or I was just a bit delusional.

The latter. But he did mainly play at 12 back then.

McFadden and O'Malley tore it up against Bath in the Aviva last season while playing as a midfield partnership.

Fitzgerald re-signing is great news as is Leo Cullen sticking it out for another year. Had Cullen, O'Driscoll and Sexton all departed at the same time it would have left a huge leadership deficit.

In fairness Snoop Bath were awful that same day. And agree on Cullen I expect next season to be 1 similar to Mick Galwey's final season here when he was on bench and great to have around the lads before big games in dressing room etc and gave 20mins in each game to effect. Cullen is a dogged experienced player who really will be needed in games next year

NEW LEINSTER CONTRACTS:

3 Years: Cian Healy (national contract), Michael McCarthy

2 Years: John Cooney, Sean Cronin, Luke Fitzgerald, Jimmy Gopperth, Rob Kearney (national contract), Brendan Macken, Ben Marshall, Fergus McFadden, Jack McGrath, Jordi Murphy, Eoin O'Malley, Mike Ross (national contract), Quinn Roux, Dominic Ryan, Richardt Strauss, Devin Toner

1 Year: Leo Cullen, Darren Hudson, Martin Moore, Jack O'Connell, Noel Reid

With news we're also looking to announce a foreign signing in the coming weeks. Good to see Roux staying for two years. Wonder what the story is with Goodman and can we please hurry up with BO'D?
