Owens is a monster, I know him irl - wouldn't mess with that guy! Where have you heard his name before?

Ive got a huge hit of his on a Facebook video, any ideas how I could get it up here? It's scary, knocked it cold! (When CCB beat INST 57-12 or something)

Edit: I don't think Irelandfan is at Campbell, if I remember right he plays club rugby.

No, quite clearly confused the two of you

Name came up on another forum I use - what sort of player is he? Other than a monster? See he goal kicks, what is it with Campbell and big back threes kicking... while we conduct the Irish age-grade interrogation here, what's Fullerton like as well? Saw he played in the recent Schools - Clubs match, surprise he's not involved. Injured?

cmac - Yes Academy players do get wages, and yes it's possible Leicester will offer more - possibly a full development or pro contract. Given the hype I've heard about him, it wouldn't at all surprise me if they were saying LV Cup next year, Prem year after that. And Leicester do have an incredible record for developing international players.

I think though, if it is true, the most important thing to Dardis is he can rock up to contract negotiations and use Leicester's offer to get a Development contract straight away.

Must have!

He's very quick on his feet, and is alright at goal kicking, probably better than Rob Haldane. I've always thought he'd be a very good 13, but under the high ball he's useful so that's probably why he's there.
I'm not sure! Rory Scholes is a very good kicker though.

Fullerton is a cracking scrum half - he isn't injured so I'm not sure, he was playing today in the Sub Shield final (CCB vs BRA, 19-5 to CCB )
Have you seen the video of Fullerton on rugbydump? It has like 50k views! He tackles the ref haha.

I suppose, it's a lot higher risk than Leinster with no greater chance of reward though. Would Leicester offer the education chances Leinster do, Leinster's training base is in UCD and the players would get scholarships or be provided for by Leinster.

I'd say Leicester would be more intimidating also to be honest, it'd be wiser to stay with Leinster. I made a couple of sweeping statements in that last post

Sorry I wasn't able to do this earlier.

Heffernan-absolutley huge lad 120kg and an actual ginger. Can play both sides not sure how good a scrummagger he is as it's hard to tell with that size and strength and the packs he's a part of. Handy enough in the loose.

Roche-about as wide as he is tall; with the pace of a centre. Can be destructive in the loose but questions about his throwing.

Jager-big lad but not the way you'd expect for a prop. Think he'll end up 6. Strong carrier and puts in some huge hits.

Loughman-played 8 last year for Athy club loosehead for Rock this year powerful carrier.

O'Connor-another big lad, good in the lineout.

Ryan-only a 4th yr so 2 years behind some of these guys in school. 6'5" could go a long way.

Murphy- very good lineout player consistently good in every aspect

Moloney-excellent 7. Good carrier in the wide channels, very good tackler and forager.

Thornton-excellent linkman, good tackler and on the ground

Timoney-massively powerful carrier. Huge, also a strong leader.

McCarthy-Leinsters captain in the interpros. Good in all aspects.

Rock-SCT winning captain. A midget good pass, akways looking for the break great scceleration. Small Paul 2?

Byrne-fantastic kicker from hand and tee. Very good distributor. Probable for an academy contract.

Gaffney-haven't seen too much. Scored a nice try in the semi, poor goalkicker by all accounts.

Gilsenan-skillful 12/10. Questions over his bottle here because of injury.

O'Cleary-former youths 10. Runs good lines great hands.

Brewer-much hyped. Our future big 12 according to some. Conversion to 12 seemed to be successful for Leinster and Ireland his cup put that into doubt. Probably lacks the pace. Also cuts inside too much. Great offload ability.

Courtney-strong runner and tackler.

Brennan-don't know too much. Was the starting winger.

Dardis-likened by Tony Ward to Christian Cullen. Hyperbole, but undoubtedly incredibly talented. With all the cockiness hype at his age brings. Great feet and speed also has good distribution skills from time at 10. Good kick out pf hand not so much from the tee. Would question how good he is under the bomb.

Was a big problem when I saw him and that's why I question is he a 15 or what is his natural position. Like I know he played 15 in School this year but I thiink myself he'd be better at 10 or 12

Think you're probably right, but a lot of it depends on the player's mindset, and what both will be offering him. If Leinster don't offer an academy place (unlikely I know) or if Leicester offer a full contract straight out of school which Leinster don't match, then the reward levels alter. Still reckon there's no serious intent of leaving and he's just going to use Leicester to get a better deal out of Leinster though.

I hadn't, but now I have, if he gets stepped that easily by a forward no wonder he got dropped ;) Cheers for the info, will be interesting to see what happens next.

Think his counter attacking ability which is brilliant would be wasted there. Probably is a backthree player. He has plenty of time to work on it anyway.

Girvan Dempsey as academy director is the perfect person to work on his ability under a garryowen. Dempsey was an excellent defensive fullback.

EDIT- Zane Kirchner and Willie Le Roux are the latest names to be linked to Leinster.

Willie would be a great signing.
I'd like to see either him, Viljoen, Coetzee, or Scheepers at the Ospreys.

Have a feeling Kirchner would be disaster signing for some reason. Snoop agree regards Dardis having best tuition in Dempsey for Garryowen and well maybe the progression to full time training will correct them issues rapid

Irish team for FIRA game tonight has been named
1. Michael Lagan
2. Andrew Roche
3. Oisin Heffernan
4. David O'Conner
5. James Ryan
6. Rory Moloney
7. Patrick Thornton
8. Nick Timoney
9. Nick McCarthy
10. Ross Bryne
11. Greg O'Shea
12. Harrison Brewer
13. Fergal Cleary
14. Jack Owens
15. Billy Dardis

12 Leinster.

They won 31-20.

How good is Ian Madigan?! Scored all of Leinster's 22 points today. Definitely the best attacking fly half in Europe, and my no 2 for the Irish shirt. It'd be great to see him tour with the Lions, however unlikely that would be.

Well there are other good attacking fylhalfs like Freddie Burns, Michalak, Trinh-Duc etc but he is up there. A very talented player.

I thought it was a cracking match, one of the best of the season. Credit to Glasgow who came to play. They look a good team.

Just back from the match Madigan was fantastic. Did anyone make out which Leinster player put in the huge hit at the end their couldn't quite see.

He was absolutely class tonight, dragged us kicking and screaming to a very important win. I think he's good enough to tour for the Lions, I want him to and I think he is a better player than Burns because he is brilliant in attack but also very good defensively. He will need to improve his tactical kicking and awareness to kick for the corners next season but I fully expect him to enhance his game as much as Sexton did in the two years after taking over from Contipomi. I expect Sexton to have a battle on his hands for first team Out Half if he returns in two years.

Just realised if these (horribe) rumours come true Munster could field a backline of:

15. Jones
14. Conway
13. Fitzgerald
12. Downey
11. Muphy
10. Keatley
9. McGrath

Wonder where they're from?
