The Climate crisis


Well, a generic rule that'd be worth considering trying to put together:

The landing fee tax is (i) both proportional to the number of people on the flight and inversely proportional to the distance of the flight or (ii) inversely proportional to the difference in time taken to reach the destination by other public transport.

London City can't even do true long haul, runway length isn't big enough.

But longest scheduled commercial flight in the world is around 15,500 km, Singapore to New York.
Shortest is < 3km... between two of the Orkneys. Don't understand why the Scottish govt feel the need to subsidise that route. A boat would cover that distance in minutes as well and probably be more weather resilient.

You'd probably want a formula that'd add ~£150 per ticket to the price of London City to say Amsterdam, but the fee from London City to New York would be nominal. [feel a bit dirty saying that, as its likely bwankers using that flight, but fair is fair, they've no realistic alternative outside airtravel.]
