SuperRugby: Chiefs v Lions. 05/05/2012

What a bonuspoint try by leonard!!!!!!

Good game from both sides.
Chiefs gave away a bit too many penalties and a sloppy defence. Lions scored 3 tries. But head of the ladder again :)

bit of a messy game at times, I think the chiefs missed Messam they kinda really lacked his defense and physicality and I wasn't impressed with Fitzgerald who made a number of silly errors and gave away some silly penalties. maybe better Running Thomson at lock and Bradley at 8 if they want to rest one of their front line locks again. Though credit should be given to the lions forward pack who used their size to disrupt the chiefs.

5 points in the bag and no major injuries - though there will be some sore bodies.

Leonard was impressive again
Cruden too as always but he was found out a number of times on defense, he is pretty good for his size but it will always be an issue. Not much you can do against 2m tall 110kg+ guys running at you all day. I think in the first half I saw three times where he slipped tackles and Brendon Leonard came across and cleaned up. Leonard's defense was impressive as always.
Sonny Bill and Kahui both had very impressive games.

He half fell of one tackle as the number 8 scored in the second half, other than that didn't miss a tackle. The chiefs have the best/2nd best defense in the competition which doesn't happen if your first five is a bad defender. Honestly if Donald had ever had a season for the chiefs like Cruden has this season, you would be calling for him to start for the AB's not trying to find fault wih some aspect of his game like you are with Cruden.

Agree on Fitzgerald, he was out of touch in a big way, no accuracy with anything he was doing. gave away at least 4 unnecessary penalties.

bloody hell it's hard to find game stats these days :p I can't find the stats sources I used last year :(

I'm pretty sure Cruden missed more than one tackle. I'm not getting at him, he's been fantastic in many aspects of his game, general play is been very good and his goal kicking is spot on. But the lions made a lot of yards through him.
