SuperRugby: Blues v Reds. 27/04/2012

Marshall's right!
Way too long are all restart kicks from the Blues: no pressure, easy cleaning from the Reds, who are sharp enough to give the ball back to the Blues but 50m out and in a lineout.

Ugly lineouts.

My god weepu has been awful, has to be dragged at half time. Moala looks pretty dangerous with the ball.

Got to love Marshall basically bagging the blues and pumping up the reds the whole time.

Good penalty against Simmons!

Weepu's delivery is really slow, he makes Phillips look like a hare.

Meanwhile Gill is killing the Blues at the bd.
Liam Kill.

At the last play near the tryline, when a Blue player (Charlie Faumuina, I believe?) had the ball, I thought he could make it if only someone went to support him quickly. It's all "what if"s, of course, but still.
I thought that the Blues were slow to go for support overall as well, and it had cost them more than one penalties and turnovers.

This was such a crappy game to watch just after I woke up...

Why is Weepu still playing ahead of Matthewson?? isit because Weepu's Pat Lam's illigetimate child?? Or is that also borderline racism?

Blues are Shocking!! Still can't get it that their only win this season was against the Bulls at Loftus of all places... They are certainly going to win the Wooden Spoon this year, and then smack Pat Lam out of the stadium with it!

I agree with those who reckon Weepu was awful... he was DIRE. Wrong options, poor kicking, and slow-motion delivery. He was scragged a number of times at the breakdown, and the Reds players that got him weren't even offside, they didn't need to be.

Another error ridden performance from the Blues who were back to their stumbling, bumbling worst. The line out was awful and they were utterly dominated at the breakdown. Too many low jersey numbers sea-gulling out wide instead of getting in and doing the hard yards up front.

Well I'm annoyed. Not only because I had to watch the Blues lose, but because it ruined my perfect predictions of last week. I thought to myself, "you know what, I think this match the Blues will start to come right, they've been slowly getting better every game and the Reds aren't THAT good" but they still let me down. I feel like Graham Henry must have felt after subbing Stephen Donald on against Australia in 2010, just totally let down.

Okay, Weepu played poorly. He did. But that's not why I'm annoyed with him right now, I'm annoyed because he now wants to come back to the Hurricanes. It's just a total abandon-ship attitude. Anscombe also had another shocker, in fact the passes from the Blues were just miserable.

And the final thing that annoyed me was Justin Marshall calling this match. He's useless. For example, he was going on about the Reds looking good and dominating the set piece and the Blues looking poor (which in fairness they were), but the Blues had won 4 lineouts with 3 against the throw while the Reds had won 3 lineouts with two against the throw, which the statistician for sky put up with obvious comic timing. The Blues also got a tighthead (allbeit a messy one) the scrum before he made the statement. He just talks shuch rubbish. The only call he made that I agreed with was with the restarts. He makes a bad match terrible, and in an effort to be unbias he becomes extremely bias towards any New Zealand side. It's pathetic. Not to mention he fumbles and bumbles and never shuts up. I want to punch him.

Anyway, rant over.

horrid game, I thought the Reds were bad, but the blues were even worse. Every time I think the blues are starting to pull it together and that they will start to improve the very next weekend they look worse than most teams do the first warmup game of the season.

basic skills are bad
no vision
no leadership
no hint of a real game plan
Defense looks unorganized
They look like a team of individuals all trying to do something different
they look like the don't even have a coach
so many problems, players in the wrong part of the park at the wrong time doing the wrong thing. just really bad structure.

Though the ref did not help, the breakdowns were a mess and the ruling in that area would have had all the players guessing

pretty shocking to watch, not good for the game of rugby

Watched this one and the Lions being thrashed by the Brumbies. The Lions still looked better, showed guts and determination even though completely outplayed by a better team.
What we see here at the Blues is something new, none of us has seen such a talented bunch perform so badly week after week.
The issue(s) must be very deep and it becomming so diabolical it seems like match fixing at times, just how pathetic they are as a unit.

For the sake of NZ rugby and the Blues supportes, hope this get sorted
Complete overhaul required at the franchise

Wow, how wrong I was!.. I honestly don;t know whats going on with the Blues!...

Why I keep backing them I really don't know. I just feel they MUST gel soon!

blues were bad but they well and truly looked after Digby, Nonu was all over him most of the game.

I dunno where the blues can go from here, I think they are away to the canes next week and I think they will lose that game as well. I thought they would have beaten the reds who weren't that great but the blues seem to have found a way to get worse even though they were at rock bottom to start with.

I think it's just the effects of losing Woodcock and Mealamu over the last couple of weeks - stopping any progress.

They were very accomodating of Digby, they were kind enough to give him a try a minute in :)

Digby sucked at centre, his distribution is woeful. Did he pass it at all? Nonu belted him twice. Good winger but rubbish centre at this level.

Harldy a surprise really. I don't know what the obsession is with trying wingers in the centre is. They're supposed to be the most selfish players on the pitch, people can hardly get mad when they don't pass.

2009 or 2010 Digby was one of the best 13's in the competition, broke the line more times than anyone else that year, including leading tackle breaks. It was his first game back in 5 weeks and his first game at center since the Lions game last year, give the guy a break or better yet do better than he did?

Sorry Mr Ioane, I'll stop criticizing your son on an Internet message board.
