Super 15: Hurricanes - Reds in Wellington (30-04-2011)

Morahan scores a stunning try. 25-23 with 10 mins left. Game is back on! Interesting to see how Canes react to this.

A lot of money was lost. Only Invictus had the right outcome, betting 2 dollars.

In my defence it was only because I was not really thinking in regards to how much I had to spend. I did that for the other game too, though I'm not even sure what game that is... And you can't edit your bids :(

On another point, who'd have thought that a game between the first and 14th teams would have such low winnings for the 14th placed team...

Those low winnings are based on the fact that the Reds have never won at Westpac Stadium. The Reds last defeated the Hurricanes in 1998 on NZ soil, which was in a different stadium. That, together with the fact that the Reds missed several players due to injury, made a win less likely, therefor the odds for a Canes win, lower.

I knew all along the Canes' would win. Never doubted them for a second...

Hosea Gear for player of the day in my opinion, while I thought Aaron Cruden played much better than in previous games. Talk about a nail biter, are the Canes going to win every match in the last few minutes of the game?..

In fairness, the Canes had a much worse injury list, with Weepu, Smith, Nonu and Jane all out of action.

It was a real game of 2 halves. The Canes were lucky to run away with it considering they played basketball for the last 40.

Hosea Gear was immaculate as usual.

Good win, makes you wonder what might have been if Mr. Dickinson wasn't in charge the week before

By the looks of things, I would say that the 'Canes AB players will have to bide their time on the bench, dinnae fix what is not broken and all that.

I couldn't believe the commentator when he said this is the first time this year that the Reds have played against a NZ team

Just caught a replay of the game, definitely a game of two halves...

It was great to see the Canes tight-forwards actually stand up and play good tight game in that first half, which seemed to catch the Reds by surprise. Andrew Hore had his best game of the season, which is great to see from an AB's perspective. Cruden did a great job with the ball in hand, but his goal-kicking was poor. Importantly though he made the kick that counted at the end. Ngatai looked good in midfield - certainly more impressive than Hayward who for some reason keeps getting picked in the midfield ahead of him - though Ngatai unfortunately broke his ankle, so looks to be out for quite a while. The back three for the Canes all looked good at times. Taylor continued his strong season making a couple of breaks from fullback, and Hosea Gear also made a couple of breaks despite being heavily marked. However Gear did make an error not sticking wide with Morahan when Morahan scored his first try after a cross-field kick by Quade Cooper. Incidentally Morahan again had a strong game for the Reds, and could really push for a spot in the Aussie RWC squad, especially if Mitchell is ruled out with injury.

Hopefully the Canes can build on this performance and pick up a few more wins as the season goes on...

Well in Charlie Ngatai's case he broke his ankle so they have to fix that with Ma'a Nonu...
Lets hope the Canes can knock over the Blues this week anything is possible

Quade Cooper is such a bad defender, I'm amazed people don't point this out more, he fell off pretty much every tackle. I love that the aussies don't seem to mind and keep picking him for the Wallabies. He is a poor man's Carlos Spencer.

Spencer wasn't much better.

It sounds like Nonu won't be available against the Blues either. I'd imagine Hayward will move to 12, Leiua to 13, and Savea will start on the right wing.

The reason no-one mentions Coopers defense is that it is a commonly accepted fact that he is a hopeless defender.... it would be unnecessary to point this out after every game....

And the Canes will be boosted next week with the return of Weepu, a position that has lacked a hell of a lot this season, Keats is just utter crap whose main focus is putting his hands up and saying "REf?!?!" at every single breakdown instead of getting the effing ball out to his backs

oh and just a reminder for the guys doing the standings... the Canes have 23 pts not 22 thanks

Did anyone notice a MONSTER forward pass in 'Canes 3rd try??

O_O
