Super Rugby: Highlanders vs. Cheetahs in Invercargill (09/03/2013)

He over does it though, making everything bad done by nz a professional foul where other team " it was un intentional"

Mebbe it's paybacks because all the NZ fans criticize him so much. ;)

Or - and I would suspect it's this - he is extra critical of NZ teams because he expects them to be the best, so he nitpicks them more than teams he's not so invested in. Sort of like how a person may be more critical watching a family member perform a song and dance number than watching a stranger do the same. The more one cares, the more one tends to be more sensitive to the flaws. Am I making any sense? :p

Joseph should start tenaka next week smith hasnt done anything in these first two games.

To be fair he hasn't had much to work with. Tanaka does have a good chance now to impress though.

Yeah, he overcorrects his favourism from time to time. One occasion I've noticed was when he was vocal about the Highlanders holding a Cheetahs player back (earning the Cheetahs a penalty), whereas he didn't say anything about a Cheetahs player holding onto the jersey of a Highlander loosie off the scrum in the lead up to the first Cheetahs try.

But, honestly, In this game you don't have to be biased to criticise the Highlanders...

Also nasi manu has been a big loss for this game. No excuses though the cheetas have read the highlanders book here. Totally dominated.

Perhaps he was looking in the mirror at the time...

See that! He swings around on treebys neck and marshal "it's just his knee, tackle not bad"

At least Poki is playing well. A hat-trick for him. If we get another converted try we could get a couple of bonus points...

He did correct himself, though! He said..."That is high, don't get me wrong"...so that makes it okay, right...RIGHT??!

Oh, look! A TRY!!!!!

Disapointing performance from for a landers fan to swallow this one.... even with slade on they lacked any direction. Doesnt bode well for the season..... Slades first game back the other first five was actually better imo.

Slade isn't up to 100% yet (especially his kicking), but Sopoaga was frankly dreadful and cost the Landers several points.

I thought Slade did pretty well considering it was his first game back. His defense was good, his tactical kicking good, and he started to attack the line well at the end. He was certainly a massive step up from Sopoaga, and should only improve with more time.

Anyways, game over. 36-19 Cheetahs.

Oh well, someone had to win their first, eh?

Highlanders did look a bit sloppy out there, maybe they'll tighten up for the next one. I think in the end the Cheetahs had more to prove, though, and their performance showed it.

Only time will tell how good this Cheetas side is will be intresting to see how they go back in africa. They deff seem to have some bloody decent players in that forward pack and the backs can put a decent defensive screen up. They actually also gave the chiefs a torrid time for 40 minutes last week aswell when i think about it.

Brussouw was class again, nice to see him back. And man that coennie oosthuizen is my favorite prop by far. I wish he played for the bulls.

But tbh, I think the highlanders threw their own game away.

Did anyone else notice Justin Marshall calling "Pistorius" as the Cheetahs scrum-half all the time? ;)

Yes, actually I did, but I thought it was just my ears deceiving me. Thanks for the confirmation - now I can have a chuckle over it. :)
