Spies ruled out of November tour

Well, let's agree on that then. I am a huge Kanko fan, you are a huge Spies fan but both have disappointed for the Boks lately while they were playing good up until 2008 (Yes, Kanko also played good for the Boks)

Agreed

^ Yes and lets agree that neither were at the time close to what Skinstad was before them (at least off the bench) or what Vermeulen is/will be.

Bwhahahaha!! No f***ing way!!

If you said Gary Teichman then i would've agreed

Gary Teichmann. The man who was amazing (from what I've heard). Never had the chance to see him play though. It's so freaking difficult, no... IMPOSSIBLE, to get some old footage from Currie Cup or Super12 matches.

Teich was decent.

Skinstad was ****. The thing is though that he was still better than Spies and Kanko.

Vermeulen is the man we need at 8 if we are going to play Coetzee and Alberts. He is a hard working 8 and can pick up a lot of the work that Alberts and Coetzee can't while they are primarily ball carriers/ momentum generators.

Unfortunately we just don't have an 8 of the calibre of Read ATM or even Lobbe; someone that might push for a world fantasy XV.

I still feel Coetzee and Alberts cannot be playing together, mainly because Alberts should be a sub at best at Test level. I just wish Meyer would realize Coetzee is best suited at blindside, giving him the chance to shine. Brussow is a player we desperately need no that we are without a fetcher due to Bismarck's injury.

I agree with you 100%. Vermeulen, Louw/Brussow & Coetzee/Alberts makes a balanced loose trio. My preference is for Louw ahead of Brussow and Coetzee starting with Alberts off the bench. I don't think we have many 8's in the mold of Vermeulen and if we play ball carriers like Coetzee and Alberts at blindside rather than players like Burger and J Smith then an 8 like Vermeulen is a must.

J Smith, what a legend. Pity about his injuries.

6. Brussouw 7. Smith

Now that was a lethal combo in 2009, Spies was quiet after the Super14 hype.

I love juan smith haha no homo. A bok that i admired as much as an all black great.

Just loved his game.haha no homo.

That is what I would go for too, as no matter which of the options you take you have a very balanced loose trio, which I have always thought is vital. Again I agree that Vermeulen is one of the keys here, simply because if you replace him with for example Spies or Kankowski, the trio becomes unbalanced again.

Out of curiosity, what is the story with Kolisi at the moment? I understand he was injured after the Super Rugby season - is he back playing now? I really like the look of him, I'm just not sure whether he is best suited to 6, 7, or 8....

Yes, Louw/Coetzee/Vermeulen (Bench Alberts) would be my pick.
Alberts has shown what he can do when brought off the bench. Despite great perfomances, I don't think Daniel will return soon.

Kolisi played a few CC matches but broke his thumb at the end of August; he is out for the season.

Good to hear there won't be any spies during the November Tests. No team should use spies, it's not fair.
