Sonny Bill Williams News + Progress in ITM Cup

You're the one with a chip on your shoulder accusing people of racism.

I have now.
He was good, but not amazing. About how he was in the Top 14, though the opposition wasn't as good as the Top 14 (not trying to start an argument there, i just think that the Top 14 has a stronger defence, overall, than the ITM. The ITM does have fancier attacks/more flare though)

a season of super rugby with better attack and better D could really see him shine. i hope so because i really want to see him become a star. i believe he could be more effective if he was more physical on attack. crashing etc . he has got the offload sussed.

I hope he's included in Rugby 2012.... Put him on the cover and boom.. Sales will go sky high

I also think we have to watch very carefully how we go down the road of banning people that we just have strong views against. We need reference of actual offensive statements which are the first and initiating trouble in a thread.

We can ask people to move on with the topic itself and leave contentious issues alone. If they refuse to do so, then that conduct is de constructive to the thread and we then have legitimate grounds. :)

On that note, I am asking Woodward to cease referring to other individual forum members posts in this thread and move on with discussing his views in relation to the issues only. If anyone uses that as an excuse to then insult him or his personal views of the ITM Cup or SBW, knowing that he isn't to respond then they become the trouble-maker and action will be taken. :)

Once again, let's talk about what the thread is about.

Sonny went ok today, not great, not well just ok. He showed some good pace in an attempt to clean up for his team but failed as Taranaki scored twice, he cant save everything. He finished of a great team try which started from a Fruean flick pass (mustve learnt that off Sonny) and he still going forward well with good leg drives in his settles. He certainly gets them going forward.

I still yet to see Sonny come away with a good defensive game. His passing game is quite suspect at times, one occasion Sonny's opposite almost got an intercept. He's trying to build a combination with Fruean which is what all centres do but he might want to dummy every now and then as a good runner like Fruean also makes a good decoy like Sonny was when Brett dummied him to make a brake and set up Maitland for the Cantab's 1st try.

Not good but not bad either just ok for SBW this week.

SBW has continued his trend of improving every game. His offloads were again insane and i can't recall any going wayward this time out. His own individual running game was also better, hes making more of an effort to run hard into space. He made one glaring mistake where he lost control of the ball while trying to ground it on his line, but in saying that he showed a ton of pace to get back to the ball before anyone else.

I give it a B+ effort Played well in a team that lost in the forwards.

Edit: i think you're being a bit harsh Sam, he sparked a hell of a lot of attacking opportunites, it was definitely more positive than negitive. Defensively he wasn't really tested.

only got to see the highlights which may have been focusing on him a bit, looks pretty awesome though. He's definitely going on the EOYT at this rate he might even earn it

Look the best way to reward people who've been posting averagely and keep them on the right track is to point out good stuff from them. Good post Woodward! :D

Taranaki were class in that clip,
SBWs try was class as well (at least the team play in the build up was, it was so fluid)

It was really good rugby for 65mins of that game. Full credit to both teams for an entertaining spectacle! :D

it was a really good game and his try was a result of good teamwork. Hoping to see him in the EOYT

Absolute truth, you cant argue. He definately does more valuable good then bad. I'm just dying for him to smash someone because big hits is what he can bring back to the ABs. New Zealand Rugby at grass roots level has some MEAN hitmen who have perfected the art of 'smashed-em-bro', Sonny is one of these guys who can put you on a strecther if you try to run straight through his perimeter, or a centre who feels SBW is where your gonna do your mid-field crash. I know its not as easy for him to pull these off like it was for him in League but I have to admit big hits was one of my expectations of SBW. Dont get me wrong though I love SBW, he's just cool man.
